We recent stayed in Sussex at Hasting House and truly enjoyed ourselves! The room was perfectly appointed with everything we needed. We had a lovely little patio where we enjoy a drink each evening. Loved having Salt Spring Island soaps for the in room amenities! We only dined here for breakfast which was included in the stay, and it was incredible both mornings. We choose the special each time (one morning was apple cinnamon pancakes and the other was an omelette) and they were both great. Also the morning delivery of muffins were great! Overall we had a great little romantic getaway and hope to be back soon! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Short of the Mark

My wife and I stayed at Hastings House Hotel for 3 nights in late August. The physical facility is excellent. Very nice "country"style rooms , lovely grounds That said, this property does not come close to to Relais & Chateau or other "high end " hotel. standards Problems were : 1. No maid service--this was NOY Covid related because after waiting all day you could ask for it but who knew?f On the second day when I asked again the person on the phone asked me what I wanted done. 2. Called front desk at 5:30 to arrange dining for 7:30 pm . Phone rang 25 time before I gave up. Same thing 15 mins later. Finally got someone shortly after 6 pm who told me could not accommodate me because set up for the evening was complete by 5:30 due to Covid. Upon vigorously protesting , things changed and no problem. Probably took them 2 minutes to move a few place settings. 3. Alcohol drink ( gin and tonic had about 1/2 ounce of gin in it. Weakest drink ever. 4. Went to get ice from ice station ( a cooler ) one morning---one bag mostly melted left from day before 5. One cappuccino left one morning at breakfast. Next morning, only one regular coffee left. No toast brought that same morning On the whole , this place is pretty nice for the price ( around $450 -$550 CDN per night but they have to get their act together. No excuse including Covid. I do not think we are demanding but these annoyances add up. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Great Happy Hour

Stopped in with friends for their Seaside Social and had a great experience. The Empress G&Ts were great, the escargot were a treat for the past. The setting is beautiful.... close to Ganges but a world away. Our server Cara was top notch. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

The food was amazing and they were very good at social distancing with the Covid19 situation. The staff were amazing. And I was so surprised to have those amazing prawns as a starter. It was great being back in a restaurant. And what a restaurant to go back to. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Luxurious Cozy Comfort

A recent stay with a close friend exceeded our expectations !! Our cozy Meadow Suite was roomy and perfect for sharing with a separate bedroom for privacy. Beds were both pillowy soft with beautifully sumptuous linens and duvet. Luxurious and spacious bathroom with large, deep-soaker tub and all amenities including the candles !! Private deck a wonderful spot to watch eagles soar over the treetops, and a huge dark sky full of stars.... a rare treat for city folks. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
