Impeccable Service

Jul 21st, 2019

We always love staying at this hotel and it’s sister hotel, The Ham Yard, when we are in London. The location is fantastic, the decor and attention to detail is spot on but what we love most about this hotel is the service. The staff went out of their way to make us feel special (we were celebrating our wedding anniversary) and to make it an exceptionally memorable stay for us. Such a lovely team of friendly, helpful staff who go out of their way to look after their guests - always with a smile. We can’t wait to come back. Thank you. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Perfect London location

Jul 18th, 2019

We enjoyed our stay at the Haymarket Hotel. We found it to be in a perfect London location. It is in between Trafalgar Square and Piccadilly Circus, and close to several different metro stops and in short walking distance to many, many attractions. It is located on a quiet side street (on one side) and the rooms were extremely quiet at night. Beds were very comfortable. The breakfast was expansive with a large amount of choices which would suit many different tastes. The concierge was very helpful in getting theatre tickets, and helping direct us in the best direction to get us to the attraction we were looking for. I have been to London many times, but this was the hotel I would choose to stay in on future visits. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Mostly great except...

Jul 14th, 2019

The Haymarket is (mostly) a fantastic hotel. The bed was comfy, the Wi-Fi worked well, the shower was second only to the Greenwich in NYC, the breakfast food was outstanding, and most of all, the staff at the desk, lobby and restaurant were all first rate. Why then 4 stars? Several little, but significant annoyances: First, the pictures on the website show a lovely little outside space with tables, but the ashtrays on these tables were removed for the picture. In reality it’s a smoker’s space and I was forced to leave it twice during my 3-day stay because of the irritating smoke. OK, you say, it’s Europe, people still smoke there, but the hotel info book in the room proudly boasts that it is a non-smoking hotel. Second, the pics on the website show a lovely comfortable room they call the Library. Indeed, it was lovely and the chairs were comfy. Too bad it had loud Europop music and no books to read. Not like the libraries I’m used to. And third and most unfortunate, the website shows a lovely relaxing pool. But the hotel chose to close it (along with the gym) for most of the weekend because of a wedding. I imagine the steep price of the room includes use of the beautiful pool and gym, so when the owner/manager chose to “double dip” and risk not only the wrath of the guests but the chance that one of those guests would expose the double dipping on TripAdvisor, they clearly were prioritizing a fast buck over future guests. To add further insult, the band at said wedding played quite loud late into the night, preventing this guest from sleeping. I called the front desk to complain, and the staff member was quite apologetic, and did get the DJ to lower the music a bit, but also conceded that it was a private party with a private DJ and there was nothing further that she could do for us except offer a different room to sleep. But how many guests will change their room at midnight? So, if you are thinking of booking this very highly rated and expensive hotel, and would like to use the pool or the gym, be sure to ask if they are double-dipping by booking an event in that space during your stay. At least you will know not to pack your swimsuit or workout clothes like I did. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Well located hotel

Jul 13th, 2019

I was looking forward to staying at one of the Firmdale hotels and finally chose the Haymarket Hotel which was very well located. It is a lovely hotel andafter reading the reviews my expectations were high. The hotel is beautiful and breakfast is fantastic. Staff were a little hit and miss. Patrick was amazing and super helpful when I needed to send a parcel. And the staff at breakfast were very efficient and service was excellent.. My check-in experience was very offhand and not particularly welcoming and my room was quite noisy with workmen working through the opposite doorway. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
