Most restful and pampered vacation we've ever taken!

Jul 14th, 2020

We loved our stay at the Henderson Park Inn! They thought of everything. Their hospitality and attention to detail was top notch. The precautions they took related to COVID-19 made us feel very comfortable and able to enjoy our vacation without worry. We also enjoyed the beautiful amenities at the Henderson Resort. We're already planning our next visit back! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Lovely B&B w/ Room for Improvement

Jun 27th, 2020

So we had a very rocky start to our trip, the Destin traffic was insane the night we were headed in and we were ready to shower and get settled in. We pulled up to the in and thought the valet outside of the B&B was to park guests for the resort so we got out and told him we were there to check-in. He proceeded to tell us that the valet was for guests dining at the restaurant only. We had 4 big luggages a cooler and some snacks/drinks from Publix we had to unload and the valet person tried to help as best he could, but clearly they should have had a designated person to help with luggage from the hotel. We asked for a luggage cart and he said they had none so we lugged all of our stuff up the stairs into the tiny lobby to check-in. The receptionist were not friendly and did not seem happy. We had all of our luggage groceries and could barely fit as people waiting to eat dinner tried to dodge us and our belongings. Ian was working the front desk and was extremely condescending when we asked about an elevator, the other person working was new and not friendly at all. We asked how we were supposed to lug our huge suitcases up the 3 flights of stairs since there was NO elevator in the main building. The valet person that worked for the restaurant said he could help. Since there was only one of him, he could only help us and not the other couple we were with. No luggage carts, no actual bellman and bad customer service had us extremely underwhelmed and frustrated. After all, we were paying $650/a night for this place. We asked to speak to management about after experience and Ian said no one was available, mind you, it was 7pm. Note: Someone that is elderly or physically challenged in anyway could not stay in the main building unless they were on the bottom floor. Finally, the manager called and he was amazing kind and helpful and gave me his personal number. After the first night, things vastly improved. The view from the executive suite is absolutely stunning!!! The room itself is very dated and definitely not worth $650/a night, but the view and the balcony made up for it. There was a small fridge, a microwave and a small bathroom with a shower/tub combo and a tiny sink vanity. The bed was super comfy and the fridge had bottled water stocked in it. Overall, we were happy with the room choice. I’d never want to stay in room on the first floor as there is no privacy whatsoever as it faces the main outdoor patio for guest and diners. Highly recommend rooms in the second building or the executive suite only. Included breakfast: the typical buffet was not open due to COVID, which we prefer al la carte anyway so this wasn’t a problem. Most days the breakfast was pretty delicious; however, it was very inconsistent in quality and service. They seemed to be very understaffed as the chef was acting as a server one of the days. We asked for mimosas and they said they didn’t have any champagne, not even for purchase. That was super disappointing, again especially for the high price tag. Included lunch: the lunch was overall really delicious for what it was. We got chicken salad sandwiches, fruit and a cookie most days. Nothing fancy, but well executed and light. You order the night before and pickup in between 12pm-2pm. You could also order candy bars, soda and popcorn for free which was a nice touch. Beachwalk Cafe: Amazing service, amazing food and gorgeous views! Dining here was a highlight of our trip. Crab cakes are probably the best we have had and we travel frequently! Beach: I did not have the highest expectations for the beach as we do travel internationally most of the time, but this beach is almost as nice as the Bahamas and other Caribbean beaches we have been to. I was highly impressed! Blake that worked for the resort was the sweetest, friendly and most helpful employee there! He setup our beach chairs everyday and even adjusting our umbrellas in the afternoons to help get us more shade! The beach chairs aren’t the most comfortable chairs. We would have preferred ones that actually lay flat to sun bathe, but they were adequate for sure. Not having kids on the beach and having room to spread out is the primary reason we would come back to this resort. It’s the only beach resort in Destin of its kind and that’s why they can charge as much as they do. Beautiful sugary white sand and beautiful clear water is what made this trip so wonderful for us! Room for improvement: get more staff! This resort seemed extremely understaffed and most of the staff we did encounter weren’t the friendliest. There should be a dedicated bellman to help people with their luggage. We are used to traveling to Mexico and the Caribbean and the staff are the highlight of our trips so maybe we have higher expectations. The staff here aside from Shannon, Blake and our server at dinner were very lackluster. The rooms could use a refresher. And lastly, I would just recommend more consistency. It seemed they didn’t have their typical level of service due to things changing due to COVID (which is understandable), but we expected more for the price. Standout highlights: we loved sitting by the firepits at night overlooking the ocean, doesn’t get much better! We loved the charm the Inn had. It was so small and intimate. We loved our balcony at night, drinking wine and listening to the waves. My husband really enjoyed the big boy Benedict at breakfast as well as the Grits and Grillades! So delicious! You can tell their chefs are legit and innovative. This place is in the very perfect location, close enough to amenities, but also secluded and peaceful. The GM, Shannon is a huge asset for this resort as he went above and beyond to make things right after the check in debacle. Overall, this is a lovely quaint B&B with the best real estate in Destin! We will be back! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Henderson Park Inn

Jun 26th, 2020

We love the Henderson park Inn. It is the very best. Everyone is courteous, professional and so easy to deal with. We have stayed many times and will continue to go as much as possible. Everyone is so pleasant all the way down to the young man on the beach who sets up the chairs. It is the most relaxing vacation. Hope they never close. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
