All the Right Stuff

Dec 18th, 2018

Highbrook is a clean, simple, and affordable motel near the heart of Acadia National Park. My wife and I don’t normally stay in motels, but we made an exception for this one because it was cheap and had good reviews on TripAdvisor. We weren’t disappointed in the least. The rooms are cozy, quiet, and clean with a nice comfy bed (the most important factor for us). There isn’t much to say beyond that; the rooms are the size you’d expect with most of the same amenities you’d find at a small bed and breakfast. Food was available in the morning. There were only a few options for my wife and I whom are vegan (we had bagels with jam and peanut butter), but it did the trick. All in all, I definitely recommend the Highbrook motel if you’re looking for an affordable option with all the right stuff. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A gem!

Dec 3rd, 2018

This motel was a gem. It was very quaint and THE cleanest hotel, motel, resort we have ever seen! It was also located just off the main street. It was so peaceful and quiet. (The breakfast sandwiches were delicious too!) We had a wonderful stay here while we explored Bar Harbor and Acadia Park. We were visiting from Southern California and have always heard about the magnificent fall leaves. We were not disappointed! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Excellent lodging in Bar Harbor

Nov 10th, 2018

It's hard to speak too highly of this cute little motel, Don't let the older look fool you. The Highbrook Motel was our home for 3 nights while we visited Acadia NP. The motel is in a great location - only a couple minutes away. We were greeted by friendly staff and we couldn't have been happier with our lodging for our Bar Harbor visit. It received high marks from Frommer's and it sure lived up to the rating. The rooms were large, spotless and very nicely maintained. We especially loved the free breakfast that was provided to guests each morning that you pick up and take back to your room. Adam did a nice job with the steel cut oatmeal and hot breakfast sandwiches, but Jen's scones were the highlight. It was fun to talk with others travelers in the morning over coffee. This will be our go to place if we travel to this area again. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

The only choice for me in Bar Harbor!

Oct 24th, 2018

This was my second stay at the Highbrook Motel, and it will always be my choice when in Bar Harbor! The room is very spacious, has a very comfortable king size bed with five pillows!! (I sleep with four at home, so comfy!) The room is very clean, and kept spotless during my stay. I would guess that many would feel the bathroom is small, but I found it more than suitable for my needs. There are two shelves to keep all your personal items at hand. Shower was great, good pressure, and plenty of hot water. As a solo traveler, I felt very secure with the three locks on the door! The grab and go breakfast is absolutely perfect, and a great start to the day. Close to Acadia, so making it to a sunrise or sunset that will blow your mind is within 15-20 minutes. I can’t wait until I my next stay! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Would be a 5 rating if only...

Oct 24th, 2018

LOVED this place!!! It was spotlessly clean and super comfortable. Bed was great and the place was quiet. The folks in office were super nice and helpful. The morning spread was fantastic! Steel cut oatmeal on a chilly October morning? Why yes, thank you! The ONLY thing that keeps me from giving this gem a 5 rating is the mildew smell that hit us the second we walked into the room. It was overwhelming but we knew they were fully booked and unable to live. By the end of our 3 nights there our nasal passages were trashed from breathing and sleeping in that mildew environment. Maybe it was just our room. If I could be assured it was just that 1 room I would definitely return to The Highbrook but I have me way of knowing. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
