Superb location but lack of breakfast
Aug 14th, 2020
Hilton Brussels Grand Place has very convenient location – opposite the Central Station and around 5 minutes on foot from the Grand Place. Staff in the hotel is very professional and helpful. However, the rules which were introduced due to COVID were a bit bizarre. We were at the beginning of July, so maybe now it is different. To enter the hotel, guests had to ring a bell and wait for a receptionist, who will open the door. I understand that the hotel is located in very busy area and currently the flow of people should be controlled but it should be solved differently. For example by installing card reader at the entrance and guest could open doors on their own not bothering the staff. What is more interesting, the Novotel hotel which is around the corner had doors open widely. Another issue was breakfast, on the evening before my flight I got an email from the hotel that we will have a grab and go breakfast. From the executive lounge we could take tea, coffee, rolls, fruits, yoghurt, jams and orange juice (very good, btw). But it is not what you expect in 5* star hotel, even during pandemic. If the hotel is taking money for breakfast, it should provide some normal breakfast (maybe not full buffet but a la carte or at least with limited offer). The rest of our stay was pleasant, hotel was clean. Our King Family room was big, bathroom clean and bright. We got all the amenities, except slippers. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Perfect for a city stop

We stopped here before travelling through to Germany and what a perfect place for a stay in Brussels. Despite the COVID-19 changes all around, the hotel was brilliant and the staff attentive and helped us in every way including finding the parking! The room itself was brilliant with a great view and the measures that they have put in place with seals on doors etc to ensure that your room is clean are excellent. The hotel is perfectly placed for walking into the city to see all the sights but the hotel itself has no bar or restaurant facilities open. It’s also in a great location if you’re travelling by train as it’s opposite the main train station too. I would highly recommend this hotel and will definitely be coming back to both Brussels and this hotel. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Excellent service, great location.

I spent 27 nights here upon moving with my family from the US to Belgium, during COVID. The staff was fantastic dealing with COVID. My family felt very safe during our time and the staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome and safe, but not too intrusive. Sure, this would have been a more enjoyable stay if it weren't for COVID. Lounge access was limited to carry-out. Restaurant and bar were not open. However, all of this was done to protect the staff and guests.....completely understandable. Best part: we enjoyed our stay and did not get sick! I'll recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Brussels. 3 block walk to the Grand Place, and right across from the Central Station. Perfect location! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Great for a short trip and excellent access to the city and transportation

I chose the Hilton for a 2 night stay over before going to Brugge, I was not sure what to expect during these crazy times. Surprisingly, everyone was friendly even though there was a strong focus on hygiene and social distancing. The young man at reception guided me through the safety procedures and gave me a few tips on nightlife and restaurants. The room was clean and I had a view of the city from my room which allows for great photos. I was amazed at how much this hotel has tried to think of everything to make my stay safer, they even replaced the regular buffet breakfast with a grab and go meal that reduces unnecessary contact with other people, brilliant innovation, but I like buffets. Four nights turned into eight thanks to the Hong Kong airport shutdown. We caught a taxi from the airport late at night (delays at AMS) and we very pleased with the large rooms (two connecting) and typically luxurious Hilton beds. We were Diamond member so received an upgrade, with the rooms on the 6th floor facing the Grand Place. The windows opened a bit so we could get some fresh air. Housekeeping was very good. Breakfast in the restaurant was included and had a very wide selection. A big thank you must go to Chef Saidu who went out of his way every morning to make sure my daughter could eat the mushrooms and smoked salmon. He was such a lovely man. All the staff at breakfast were very friendly. The staff on the front desk were professional but not particularly friendly. Likewise the staff in the Executive Lounge. The lounge is the reason I have taken off one star. For a hotel of this size the lounge is very small, with limited food and drink offerings. It also shuts far too early at night. The location of this hotel is excellent - right across the road from the station and a few minutes' walk to the Grand Place. We always felt safe walking around in both day time and night. Eight days in Brussels is a bit much so we did day trips to Brugge and Antwerp. These are easily and cheaply accessible by train (and kids are free). We also did a tour of the Royal Palace and visited the Law Courts. In short, this hotel was a very nice place to stay, with very big rooms and an excellent location. And Chef Saidu!
