Exceeded Expectations

Apr 24th, 2020

We were here with Viking River Cruise for our pre-cruise stay. The Hilton is built into the rocks in the ruins of a 13th century monastery on Castle Hill; the architecture is very dramatic. The hotel is sophisticated, modern, urban, large and absorbed the crowd well. It’s really a wonderful place, especially for us tired travelers from the States, as it eased us comfortably into a new city. Our king room was very well appointed, very clean and very quiet. The room featured a couch, spacious nightstands, dresser, 2 closets, tea kettle, BBC and local weather tv for English speakers, and safe. The wonderful bath had heated towel bars, bath tub and great shower with 2 large alcoves for shampoo and soap! Also useful was storage shelf under the sink. We arrived late, after three flights, and ordered room service. Our Hungarian themed dinner featured national specialties, was rolled in on the table, with all the flourishes, and was a great start to our stay. We enjoyed the goulash soup, a massive chicken club with fried egg for one of us and the wonderfully starchy huge chicken paprikash entree for me. Included hotel breakfast buffet offered everything, and an egg and omelet to order station too. The local fruit bread was very good. Did not try the Quark, which looked of a liquid cottage cheese consistency, but seemed to be popular. The location was excellent for touring and for the Christmas markets. We figured out subway, with some help. This is a busy tourist area during the day, but in December, not overwhelmed by crowds. I didn’t know what to expect on our first trip to Budapest, but we were surprised and delighted by the hotel and thoroughly enjoyed the city- even during an all day rain! There is an interesting jewelry store in the hotel lobby where I found some pretty amber pieces. If you have an hour, maybe two, free time, during your stay, take the 10 minute walk to the Hospital In The Rock for an interesting (paid) tour. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

As stupid as this sounds, don’t leave anything behind or you’ll be told “after a thorough search” that nothing was found. £100 worth of clothing was left and yet it’s vanished without a trace. I worked in the housekeeping industry for 5 years and would be shown the door if I was taking or binning guests belongings! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

An absolutely AMAZING experience!

Apr 1st, 2020

My boyfriend and I had the best room with the best view on the 5th floor overlooking this amazing city during our romantic weekend away in Budapest. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay the most unforgettable experience! Thank you for the warm welcome and thanks to Judit (at the reception) for making us feel special. Lovely atmosphere, great food and delicious cocktails!! Hoping to return one day.... TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Can't beat the location

Situated at the castle area on the Buda side. Built on the site of the old monastery. Still being preserved and part of the hotel lobby area. the peak view of the parliament is quite amazing! Right beside the Fisherman's bastion and St. Matthias church. only a short walk to Budacastle. Go for a after dinner stroll right beside at Fisherman is quite enjoyable. The entire Buda side is much quieter and makes a great place to stay if you don't mind the slight inconvenience of taking bus to go out all the time. (it's walkable obviously to Pest side, but long walk) TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

One superb stay

The location of this Hilton is unlike any other I’ve ever stayed at. The views from our room were spell binding - right across the entire city below and into the distance. From the instant we arrived, the team were super polished, professional and welcoming. At every touch point over our four days we were impressed. The Lang restaurant had that same excellent service and we had a very pleasant meal. I’d recommend taking one of the rooms with a river view. They are in a newly renovated wing and have the amazing vista. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
