Good Location/Some Parking Concerns
Aug 3rd, 2020
I am updating my previous review where I expressed concerns about unsafe parking conditions. The hotel has arrangements with a nearby City owned parking garage. Because of the hotels central and convenient location the hotel has no choice but to use this garage. What amazed me was how long it took me to get a response from the Mayor’s office or City Council members or the Chamber of Commerce regarding the dark, dank and dangerous conditions I experienced in the garage at night. After months of me reaching out to them I finally got a response and assurances that improvements had been made and further improvements are being considered. Aside from the parking the hotel has been recently renovated and the rooms are nice. There are lots of restaurants and shops nearby. The lake is in view and walkable trails nearby. My wife and I stayed for a long weekend getaway in the midst of the COVID times. The Hilton Lake Champlain was an all around wonderful experience. The hotel seems to be recently reopening. It was and is going through some renovations. We stayed in a King Lake View room and it was newly renovated. It was Gorgeous! The room was extremely clean, and although we brought our own supplies to wipe things down a bit it smelled as if it had been thoroughly disinfected giving us a safe feeling. Our extra effort probably wasn’t necessary but we did it anyway in a couple minutes. The view if the lake was something and the sunsets were spectacular. We did have a couple of very minor issues but the front desk staff was incredibly quick and courteous in rectifying them. I suggest you should join Hilton Honors and get the phone app. It was great. If you choose you can check in, check out, communicate with the front desk and use your phone app as your digital room key and more. It was awesome. There are a few differences with the COVID restrictions the hotel must follow but I assume that’s similar at all local hotels. No coffee machine in the room was the most noticeable difference and if the was our biggest inconvenience then that’s pretty darn good. The location of this hotel was perfect for us. A beautiful lake view, less than a 1/4 mile walk to the water and the lovely waterfront park. And less than a half mile walk to the Church Street Marketplace. I couldn’t imagine a better location for getaway. We traveled from a “safe” state and we were happy and appreciative of the overall attitude that almost everyone we came in contact with was following recommended safe guidelines. The town was vibrant and fun. Not too crazy overcrowded. In spite of the number of people almost everyone was courteous and respectful of others and wore face coverings if they were unable to maintain a safe social distance. Almost all the restaurants and shops were open. Restaurants had outdoor dining and some also had indoor dining with limited capacity. Most require reservations but even that was convenient. I read a couple of very negative reviews on this site for this hotel and I just don’t get it. Then again there are always some who will always complain but they too are “entidled” to their opinions. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone going to the Burlington area and I definitely will be back, hopefully sooner rather than later. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Hilton Lake Champlain is one of the best hotels I have stayed at in a while! It is along the beautiful Lake Champlain, and if you have a lake-view room like I did, you can enjoy the sunset from your room. The hotel was clean and safe, and it is under renovation to become even better! The hotel is only 1/4 mile from the Church St. Marketplace, and even closer to the biking/walking trail along the lake. I would highly recommend this hotel. We had a great time. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Lip Stick on a Pig
Jul 17th, 2020
As the saying (or atleast my version), if you put lipstick on a pig, it’s still a pig. They just completed a renovation. But just because you redo some wiring, replace carpet and furniture doesn’t make the underlying issues any better. All you have to do is look into any of the bathroom fans and into the vents and see all of the nasty buildup of lint, bacteria, and who knows what else. There are a few things about this place that are nice, the parking is pretty good, the lake view if you want to pay for it is nice if that’s what you really Love. The internet works, the TVs aren’t great they are okay, I still can’t get my roku to work on their internet and TVs though, which means no streaming without using a small device (ipad etc). Even though this place is re-conditioned it will not take long till it is dirty again, with their horrible cleaning practices. With COVID it’s not a place I would trust to have good increased cleaning. They couldn’t do basic cleaning before. Right now with new furniture and such it’s very hard to tell if they are or are not cleaning appropriately, so past history is the only thing I can go on. So my recommendation is if you stay here be advised of their lax cleaning “standard“. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
