Great downtown LA Hotel

This is a great smaller downtown LA hotel. Centrally located behind the Central LA Library. Plenty of good restaurant choices nearby. Whole Foods only 3 blocks away. Close to Freeway on and off ramps. Safe neighborhood for evening walks. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great food, forget rest of hotel

We had breakfast, a dinner, and room service during our short, 2-night stay. The salads are huge, the quesadilla and burger delicious, and food service is friendly. The rest of the hotel experience was hit or miss. We arrived late and did not find a valet for valet parking. Mobile check-in and digital key did not work the day before. Check-in was not very friendly nor helpful. The room smelled horribly but the hotel was fully booked so I was told to check back after 2:30 pm the next day about changing rooms, but that wasn't likely because the hotel was again fully booked. I will stay somewhere else when I'm back in LA in 2 months. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Stay at Hilton Checkers, April 2019

Location was great and central. You have a great choice of boutiques, restaurants and bars within walking distance. Rooms are really clean. The Penthouse provides you with a great panoramic view of the city. I just wished they used that area for dining. Too bad this hotel doesn't have an indoor pool/jacuzzi. I would suggest to have breakfast outside as the suggested menu isn't as cost effective as expected. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Nice hotel but needs improvements

We stayed for 1 night in a corner king room (1103). It was nicely (recently) decorated, but one of the curtains wasn't wide enough (by about 1 foot) to cover the window meaning it got very light in the room in the morning. Although the room and bathroom had been recently decorated the balcony leading off the bathroom clearly hadn't, it was still covered in pealing paint and looked rather shabby. The bathroom still had old (single glazed) doors which made it rather noisy. The bed was large and very comfy. Breakfast is unlike anything I have ever experienced as a Hilton gold member, it was a set breakfast, a little fruit, youghert with granola and a choice of toast, muffin or crossiant, very disapointing when all other Hiltons I have experienced have actually offered me a choice of what I may like! The location is good. But unless the room issues and breakfast offereing is improved it's not somewhere I will be returning to. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Lack of honors

Stayed at the hotel for 2 nights for work and I have to say this was very disappointing stay. First I will start with pros. 1. Good friendly valet service 2. Friendly bartender 3. Quite room 4. Breakfast food was good 5. Friendly sales manager(only reason I gave 2 vs 1). Shannon was super attentive and try to rectify these issues list below, but damage was already done. Unfortunately all downhill from here Cons: 1. I checked in late on the evening and very exhausted from 6 hours of flight. Very unfriendly front desk personnel and terrible welcome or lack of it. Front desk person didn’t even look up when he asked me for my name. Not even “welcome to Hilton” or “thanks for your loyalty”. Almost borderline rude. I get the sense he does not like the job or forgotten this is a hospitality industry. 2. Gave a full breakfast coupon as an upgraded offer. I found out this coupon had 3 different options, but it was not explained to me at check in and only found out when I was checking out. 3. Room was not business traveler friendly, dark and no desk. Very small room, but nice size bathroom with almost no amenities. Big bottles of shampoo etc bolted to the shower wall like a inexpensive hotels or inns. 4. I called the front desk to see if any room with a desk was available, very quickly she said no, but she would find out and called me. Never called back. 5. Found multiple long hairs in the shower(my hair is very very short). 6. Went for breakfast,dining room was not crowded, but I had to wait for servers to clean the table for me. Almost every tables were messy, seemed no one cleaned up these tables. Perhaps hotel was busy or bad night for these front desk people, but should remember the industry they are in. Used to feel like a very friendly boutique hotel, but charming fast for worse. There are many other hotel options in LA and this hotel quality seems to be headed wrong direction. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
