Pros and cons

Jun 25th, 2019

Pros: Amazing location Amazing views in oceanfront rooms Great people/ staff!!! My favorite was Jeff at the front desk! He was very helpful especially during a very busy check in time! Cons: I expect more from Hilton- rooms are in desperate need of a re-do and deep cleaning. Other areas in need of this too. Shower would randomly stop with me touching faucet and would start back up a few minutes later. Tv would get stuck on certain channels Breakfast buffet is just so-so. Was overpriced and service wasn’t great. It was also incredibly hot in restaurant. Like the air conditioning wasn’t working. Very crowded hotel and area, especially if a convention is in town. Ants/ gnats in sink every morning. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Dropped one star due to untruthful review reply

Jun 25th, 2019

Stayed Sunday May 19th for 4 nights. Poor security, outsiders allowed to use the "key card activated" elevators. Pizza menus pushed under your door daily. Poor food selection on an evening, only Don Ricos or expensive steak house. High resort fee with little in return, $5/$10 off in Don Ricos for $25/$50 spend, ( I claimed $10 back for a $74 meal at the front desk on 05/20 in the form of a drinks voucher). I previously submitted a long review, a reply encouraged me to make contact, I did email, twice, both ignored. I reposted, with the reply in full, questioning the "spin doctor" approach of Hotel replies. The second reply caused me real concern, suggesting that I had "omitted" details of previous correspondence and an alleged "recompense that did not fully satisfy" This is completely and utterly false and a disgraceful way for a "manager" to behave. There was no correspondence, (my 2 emails were ignored), and certainly no recompense, (why on earth would there be recompense for the issues I raised?). To make this up to try to cover their failings and suggest that I have acted falsely or improperly is an utter disgrace. The spin doctor replies are bad enough, but to blatantly misinform with untruths and question my integrity is not acceptable, and terrible PR for the Hilton name. The only thing I would like in a reply to this review is the email address of the actual "real" Hotel manager, I have a full record of my original review and the two replies and would like his comment. Disappointing

Jun 23rd, 2019

Was expecting a lot more. Wonderful location. Dirty room! When we first got to the room there was a pair of dirty socks in the floor that were not ours. Floors were dirty in the bathroom and closet sliding glass door was broke. Parking is not included and it’s had to notice that when booking. At $17 or $24 (valet) a day that could add up to a lot. We were charged twice for the resort fee because I did see that fine print and end ahead and paid that through Hilton honors before arrival. Food and all service provided here are VERY OVER PRICED. We stayed at a holiday inn on the way home that was substantially better and that is coming from someone that used to always choose Hilton or Hampton every time. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Disappointed

Jun 23rd, 2019

Wife and I decided to go to Daytona for Father’s Day weekend and wanted to stay at the Hilton on Daytona beach. We got there on a Friday and were lucky enough to get early check in. We get to room and I noticed it was kind of warm. I lowered the AC setting and we left for pool. We get back and the room wasn’t really cool at all. It was still kind of stuffy. We made the best of the situation as hotel was packed and we knew there were no other rooms available. We get up next morning and go down for breakfast buffet. We get seated and immediately notice that there is no Air conditioning. Again we make the best of situation. Finally get served our drinks and went to get some food and found they were out of pretty much everything. We waited about an hour in the non air conditioned restaurant and finally they brought out some bacon and fresh biscuits. Food was just ok and due to how uncomfortable the place was miserable. We push on and hang outside by the pool rest of day. Pool area is great but there were people smoking as well as bringing their own coolers when the signs clearly say no coolers and the area was supposed to be non smoking. We go to room and found it was not cleaned at all. Frustrated we catch the cleaning lady and grab some towels. Room is very warm even tho we had thermostat on 67 again we push thru wanting to have a good time. We go out to the steakhouse and the place lived up to the hype. Food was amazing. The steak was seared perfectly. This was the highlight of the trip. We go back to room and again the room wasn’t cool at all. We both toughed it out knowing we were heading home as soon as we got up. Was expecting the quality we have become accustomed to staying at Hilton properties and found that it was no better than staying at a days inn. The lack of AC and poor service is mind boggling for the Brand name. We should have complained to the staff but knew it wouldn’t matter since the hotel was full. I do like that the army was deploying a brigade to head overseas on Sunday morning and had the troops stay at the hotel. We met several nice young men during our stay and give the hotel props for giving these families a good send off. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
