Stay retro at Graduate Eugene

Jul 22nd, 2019

Booked 1 night here because we were doing a campus tour of the University of Oregon and this hotel was offering a great rate, location was ideal and I thought how cool to stay somewhere with a track-town/Nike/duck/college theme. At check-in I learned that the hotel is celebrating their Grand Opening having just re-opened 3 weeks ago after a huge renovation. That being said...there were a few kinks but overall I loved the hotel. The desk staff gave me absolutely zero info, just gave me my room key with my room# scribbled on a sticky note. Didn't tell me where the elevators are located, where I could park my car, WiFi info, hours of the cafe or restaurant, nothing. After I walked away, I realized I had no idea where I was going as there was not a valet or bellboy around and I had to go back to the desk and ask these questions. Front desk staff could use some serious training. There was also no reading material in the room about the hotel's offerings. Had to call the front desk to have many questions answered. Besides that the only other disappointments were that the cafe didn't have any flavored syrup for their lattes and the complimentary bikes being offered for guests to use were parked outside the front entrance but not available for use because they were waiting on additional paperwork? I understand these issues were simply because the hotel had just opened but they made for a clunky start. Let me now share all the great things about Graduate Eugene! Love the retro decor! The front desk in the lobby is all about the Nike swoosh with a vintage collection of Nike shoes, a scoreboard, framed Nike posters and foosball table. The guest rooms have a Brady Bunch retro vibe with "wood paneling" wallpaper, plaid curtains, corduroy headboards. The beds and pillows were THE most comfortable I've slept on! The bath products were very nice. The bath towels were luxuriously fluffy! We really enjoyed our stay here. Room was 826 on the 8th floor with 2 queen beds. (A couple other things to note: self park is $19/night and the parking garage is under the hotel with elevator up to the lobby. Very convenient and reasonably priced. Note: Uber drivers are mistakenly going around to the back of the hotel instead of the front valet loop at lobby entrance (maybe because of the previous old hotel layout?). Heads up - our Uber drivers had to call us to find us even though we were waiting curbside in front of the hotel.) TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Worst hotel experience in years

Jul 18th, 2019

Nice remodel and clever theme. HORRIBLE operation. Ice machine on floor out of service with sign to call front desk for ice delivery. 45 minutes and still waiting for ice. Soda machine not accepting cash. Front desk should spend less time focused on toga parties and getting stoned and more time actually providing service to guests. Pathetic. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Excellent updates and convenient place to stay

Jul 9th, 2019

We had stayed here as the Hotel Eugene in March and then again as the Graduate in June. The updates are great and we have always loved the location. The hotel updates make it all about being a college town and fun and its so easy to walk everywhere and find good food and places to kick back and relax. Its pricier than it use to be, but the updates make it worth it. The staff was very helpful and we had a great time. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Weekend trip for Garth Brooks

Jul 2nd, 2019

We booked a weekend at this hotel for the Garth Brooks concert. We were a bit skeptical about staying here as the pictures on the Internet make the place look old and outdated. Quite the contrary, the place has a modern retro look that was very cool and very warm. The remodeling is not yet complete, but the construction did not bother us at all. The location is very convenient to the stadium with a 20minute easy walk. The biggest negative is the parking: the garage has a 6 foot clearance, and most trucks and SUV’s will not fit in. The hotel however allowed the trucks to park in front of the hotel I the reserved spots. All in all this is a great place to stay. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Fun College/Sports Themed Hotel

Jul 2nd, 2019

Highlights: Fun decor, attentive/friendly staff, convenient location, comfortable beds, easy parking, reasonably priced Not ideal: They were under construction and our room was in the midst of it. Front desk said we could move but once we were settled, it wasn't worth the hassle to pack up again. No biggie but if you are sensitive to noise, wait until the dust settles. WONDERFUL hotel. We would stay again! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
