Unattentive staff

tl;dr rude, inattentive staff and managers, exorbitant parking fee. stay somewhere else. Stayed one night on June 29, 2020. Called to arrange an early check-in if a room was available. Informed that a room would be available around 1:30-2:00pm. Allowed to park, phone number was taken, assured I would receive a phone call when our room was ready. Went back to the hotel at 2:30pm, still no phone call. 3:00 (normal check-in time) rolls around and we are sitting in the lobby. I asked the front desk attendant when our room might be ready, and she said they were ready. I never received a call regarding our room for our early check-in. Spoke to the manager who happened to come out of the office as I was explaining the situation to the front desk attendant. The manager was no help and was quite dismissive and flippant. It seemed the team had changed shifts and no one transferred the numbers for early check-in. They also have a parking lot, but you have to pay to self park. Room very humid, poor ventilation, and low water pressure. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Decent hotel, Subpar staff.

I should have listened to the many reviews citing the rude front desk staff. A few minutes after checking into the room I went back to the front desk to see if we could be put in another room. My boyfriend and I had to work from the hotel room and there wasn't enough lighting. It was only a couple of lamps to light the room, one of the lamps wasn't working, and instead of natural light from the window our view was a grey wall in the parking lot. Not to mention we were placed in a very small handicap accessible room that was just uncomfortable and dark. I explained our need for better lightening for work to the young lady at the front desk and was told that I would have to upgrade to be placed in a different room. Odd but okay, I didn't even dispute it I just told her that was no problem. Then she pretended to check for another room and then told me there were no more rooms available in the entire hotel for the full duration of my 2 nights stay. She clearly just didn't want to do her job because this made no sense that there were no rooms, even with upgrading in a nearly empty hotel. I went online to their website to see if I could book a room and there were PLENTY of booking options. I was honestly stunned at her boldness to blatantly lie to my face, and not even a believable lie... but it also wasn't worth the energy to go back and forth with her. I went back to the room and called the Manager who had already left for the day. I was connected to his voicemail but it was full. I called the next morning and was told he was on a call but he would return my call shortly. Another 2 hours went by so I called back and was finally able to reach him. He was actually very kind, apologetic, accommodating, and said he would call me back in a few minutes after he found another room for us. So much for a few minutes because another 2 hours wnet by!!! My boyfriend literally had to move the chair and sit under the light directly in front of the entrance door (a very dim light) using the ironing board as a desk with the flashlight feature on his phone shining light on him for Zoom calls for work. So we're getting ready to just cut the trip short and go home by this point but we finally get a call from the manager saying he will have someone come to our room with a key and bell cart in about 10 minutes. Another hour goes by before someone calls us to come down to the front desk to get the key. The new room was still a bit dark, I think their rooms just naturally are, but at least both lamps worked and although a tree covered a good bit of the view, there was some natural light. By the time we got settled in the new room it was after 3pm and the work day was nearly over so we're just not happy, but we stayed and got some rest and checked out early the next morning. Truly a waste of money, this was much more of a hassle than a getaway. I will say that the manager was very kind (I believe his name is Jeremiah), the hotel facility is nice, everything was really clean and it seems like they are taking all of the precautions to keep the hotel clean and safe during the pandemic, but for me none of that makes up for the bad front desk staff. She should not have a job if she doesn't want to deal with simple requests. Will not return! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Good overall, but not a good value

I stayed at this property in a 2Q bedded room for one night while working in Stevensville during COVID19 outbreak PRO’s • Decent bed excellent choice of foam or feather pillows • 6 outlets and 6 USB’s bed side to power electronics with clock • Has workout room, indoor pool and whirlpool (closed due to COVID-19) • Small work desk with horrible chair and 6 unused outlets and 2 USB ports • Solid surface counters, microwave/fridge combo • Well stocked pantry in lobby for missed items and snacks • Average-Above average food CONS • Odd HVAC system with remote that is missing it’s back exposing batteries • Indifferent front desk attendant who wasn't going to process my Diamond upgrade despite being virtually empty... why? • Some light-moderate sounds in room • Small room, feels tight • Very small bathroom with shower • $26.00 mandatory valet parking charge (was waived due to COVID19 as self park) I enjoyed this property overall and may stay here again in the future. IMHO the 1 bedroom suite is a waste of space however, unless you just need the extra room. The space is not utilized well with a huge bathroom a cast iron tub/shower combo and an additional corner shower. Overall I would give this property a 90/100 and a 83/100 for value as it’s getting a little pricey. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

The staff was rude and unprofessional. Did not make me feel welcomed at all. Walking in to the Hotel I was not greeted or felt welcomed. I’ve been a Hilton Honors member for many years , is this is not up to their standards. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

One of the Best!

Great staying at a Hilton so close to the downtown area of Annapolis. We could walk to the dock area and all of the museums and famous houses in town! Very cool vibe in this town. We even toured the Naval Academy, which was only a few blocks away from hotel! We even interviewed a Naval Midshipmen on his break. He was very informative about why he had to wear his uniform, even in town on his day off from classes! We will definitely go back again, and stay at the Hilton Garden Downtown. Staff was super friendly and accomodating! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
