Truly 5-star service

Oct 7th, 2020

I cannot recommend this hotel enough. The Front Desk staff, especially Christine and the early afternoon manager, were amazingly professional and helpful; they provided me directions to local sights and best places to eat with huge genuine smiles and it was clear that they truly love their jobs. The 5-star service you will receive at this hotel easily defeats that of other nearby Hilton properties. It is also worth noting that the rooms are kept extremely clean with comfortable beds and modern bathrooms featuring plenty of amenities. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Nice stay

Oct 6th, 2020

We had a fun weekend getaway in Chicago and stayed at this hotel. Elevators were fast that it wasn't too hard to do social distancing although occasionally we had to share the elevator. The entrance was rather busy during the day with the people wanted to use the restroom. The main gate was locked all the time - room key was needed to enter. Breakfast ($10 or free for Hilton gold or higher elite members) was served in a bag with a sandwich, yogurt, and fruit cup. Our room was clean and the hotel placed hand sanitizers here and there. Overall, we enjoyed the stay. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Minus on courtesy & cleanliness, plus on view & location

Sep 28th, 2020

My family ONLY stay at Hilton chains due to personal preference & loyalty to key executives with chain. We travel twice a month for business and pleasure all over the USA. This was our first trip to Chicago. Naturally we chose one of the Hilton locations, but staying at the Hilton Garden Inn-Northloop in Chicago-Riverwalk may have to forever be removed from our list in the future after this stay. This saddens us because the location was perfect but not worth the extra cost. THE GOOD Nice view of the river and city, both day and evening. Location was great for access to a lot of fun things to do. THE PROBLEMS #1-Rude customer service rep who checked us in was a terrible representative for your establishment. We called ahead to request an early check in because our train was arriving by 10:30am. We arrived at hotel around 11am. Days prior, I was told that it would not be a problem to check in early as long as there was a room available. I asked if there would be an additional fee. I was told no. However, when we got there, I was told that I had to pay another $25. When I checked my credit card statement, i was charged $30 more instead. I'm perplexed at the fact that I was told there would not be any additional fees in the first place. I want a refund right away! #2-The mattress was full of nasty brown stains all over the sides. It was ABSOLUTELY disgusting. Didn't notice at first. Had I not dropped my keys, it would have gone completely unnoticed. Hilton should be ashamed at themselves as one can expect to see that in a motel, not the Hilton hotel. This is also a potential issue with today's current state of global emergency due to COVID-19. #3-Mask enforcement was not strict, nor was the 2 person elevator policy. At least the rules were posted, so I cannot blame the hotel for this. Unfortunately, I forgot to take pictures. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Screwed us over on parking!

Sep 4th, 2020

I booked this hotel for Labor Day weekend trip for my wife and daughter on a Hilton 'Park and Stay' rate. When they arrived this evening after a 5 hour drive, the desk told them that parking was not included in the rate! My wife had to drive around downtown Chicago at 11pm trying to find parking! They did reduce the room rate to the non park and stay rate, but that doesn't really make the customer service any better. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Excellent Stay

Sep 3rd, 2020

Stayed 3 nights August 30 thru Sept 2. This was my first hotel since the onset of covid but I felt very comfortable during my stay. They had great safety measures in place and checkin/ out process was seamless. Although housekeeping is limited staff were very accommodating getting what we needed. The hotel is in an excellent location and the riverwalk is steps away. I used Spothero for parking and used the garage at 60 E. Lake. The beds were also super comfortable. Overall excellent stay!!
