Great Price, Service & Location

This hotel was in a great location -- not too far from the airport, but far enough not to hear planes taking off/landing. Breakfast was great -- love the made to order hot eggs as opposed to the buffet style cold ones. And definitely can't complain about the price for the quality of service I received. Disappointing stay

We've stayed at many Hilton properties, and prior to our night here, we'd just stayed at a different hotel every night for a week. That included Hiltons, Marriotts, and independents. And out of all of them, this one stood out as the most disappointing. We arrived very late from a flight, finally lights out at around 2am, looking forward to a nice sleep-in before checking out at noon. But at 9 the next morning, we were suddenly woken by a maid tapping on the door. When I answered the door, she said, "Sorry for waking you, I'm just checking to see if you're still in the room." When we spoke to the desk manager later on when we checked out, we were told that this is necessary because of people who check out online and therefore the staff have no idea who's still in their rooms or not. We got a pseudo apology, some free points to our account, and a patronizing explanation with some very "unprofessional" language thrown in -- and most importantly a strong conviction that it would take a lot for us to stay at this hotel again. The clerk did reveal that the hotel was going to be getting some major renovations shortly, which is definitely needed. The rooms are tired and in poor condition. There's nothing about it that feels like a Garden Inn. All of this to say that this hotel needs to fix their process so that travelers don't have to worry that they'll be woken up by a maid wondering if there's still someone in the room. Your internal communications system needs to be updated to reflect the changing ways that people can check in and out. And since you likely have a lot of guests who are just off a flight of some kind, be considerate to the needs of travelers. Other hotels seem to have figured it out. In the meantime, we'll be booking another hotel in the vicinity for our next flight. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Good spot for an early morning flight.

We stayed here because we had an early morning flight. The hotel is about a mile away from the airport so that makes everything more convenient if you have an early morning flight. Also, this hotel does have a shuttle which runs super early to the airport which is an added bonus. Hotel was clean and we would stay here again if we had an early flight. Although the bar staff seemed to be a little overwhelmed when we stopped by for a drink the night before our flight. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Disappointing by every measure

My family and I had a 6am flight out of Detroit Metro Airport, so checking into this property the night before seemed like a great move -- on paper. What a disappointment. I'll start off by saying I'm a Diamond Hilton Honors business traveler, so to be fair -- my expectations are pretty high. I know what a well run establishment looks/feels like, so I don't think it's unreasonable to expect at least a baseline of quality from a brand like Hilton Garden Inn. The lobby looks nice, although there was no coffee or water available The lobby, however, masked a disappointing reality when I got to my floor to see poorly lit, dirty hallways which looked like they hadn't been modified since 1971. leading to a truly sad room, poorly appointed, and with beds that -- to put it mildly - were uncomfortable and small. This is the kind of place you'd expect to see in a crime scene rather than a typical Hilton Garden Inn. Honestly, I was shocked by the state of my room, the hotel in general, and the quality of the staff. So far beneath my experience as a loyal follower and fan of the Hilton brand, that I seriously feel like they need to shut down this location for three months to upgrade the entire property, while using the time to either train or hire new staff. Embarrassing for everyone involved. Especially me who had to explain to my family that this is not indicative of Hilton when I travel for my job, and that I wouldn't have put them in this place had I known. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Nice stay!

Came here for business... miserable and snowy outside, so I spent a decent amount of time in the hotel. Everyone took great care in making me feel welcome, and I loved talking to the staff. Restaurant was great for breakfast and dinner... decent prices too. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
