Sadly I wanted to like this place, the bar tender was great the cook made a great pork chop and killer rice and beans! The problem was bugs! My room was infested with them! Tiny ones all over my desk and the night stand and the bedding! They offered to spray or give me another room, I took the other room and in the morning seen more of these bugs in the bathroom! Sadly since I stayed at two hotels on this trip I maligned the wrong one in my haste! This Garden inn needs to shut down and control this! As a diamond Hilton member I have never seen something like this before! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Not a solid good choice

Aug 20th, 2019

The lobby is the nicest looking area. There seemed to be cookies sometimes, at the front desk which was a nice touch. The front desk people were very nice. Although, the day we arrived (early) we kept in touch with the nice lady at the desk several times. Then once finally able to check in, she did a routine statement introducing herself by name to use. Something like "my name is so-and-so, if you need anything let me know." Meanwhile we were already well acquainted with her, so I think she forgot that she did not need to introduce herself. Also, in order to get rooms quicker (we are family staying in 2 rooms) we said we'd be willing to change one of our Suites to a double bed. She said she could accommodate that, but when asked, said it would be the same price. I told her, certainly if I reserved a double but then asked for a Suite there would be an increase in price - so I'd expect a decrease in price to go from Suite to a Double. She said she'd take off $30 per day. I didn't even get paperwork when leaving, to see the final breakdown. They just said "you're all set" and we had to get going, so I didn't even check. The pool was heavily chlorinated. My kids used goggles primarily, but my daughter swam around for a few minutes without and afterward she was crying so bad with red, painful eyes the rest of that day. We weren't at the beach, but the bug biting by the pretty much invisible bugs near the pool was pretty bad. The hot tub had caution tape all around it - we had hoped to use it, but the water didn't look so great in it. I did see someone attempting to maintain it, but caution tape blocked it off again. Also, seems odd to need to scan a hotel card to exit the pool area and get back into the hotel, no? What if there was an emergency such as a drowning, and frantic people would need to find and swipe a hotel card to get into the hotel for help? The hallways (at least on the 3rd floor) were FREEZING cold. All 3 of my kids came down with sniffles, and I have to think this is why. The bathroom doesn't seem to have functional venting, gets very steamy in there. The sink vanity seems higher than standard, was hard for my kids to reach the faucet unlike other hotels. The headboards rattle. Our relatives had incessant ants on their nightstand. One day of our stay repeatedly had the ear-piercing fire alarm go off. We evacuated, and were told it was just malfunctioning. It continued to do so until probably 7pm - how would we know when it was a real fire alarm? There was very poor communication about this. We used the cocktail hour deal but the selection was very poor. Only a limited selection of general spirits. I would have used this special on other nights as well, if it had some house wine as an option. And if so, I also likely would have ordered food. The breakfast buffet was ok but the weekday hours seem to be over early at 10am which was a bummer since paying for breakfast. Also, I wish we could have the option to not pay for every day, as the last day we left by 7am and had no time for breakfast. The fake flowers on decorative towel piles on the beds upon check in initially looked cute until you see the flowers are fake - just seems forced and cheap. I question the cleanliness of this hotel - it needs updated and modernized. Would have liked to see coffee available beyond the breakfast hour as well, although the infused water was a nice touch. A positive, there are a lot of places to eat within reasonable walking distance - and many shopping stores as well. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

No complaints here

Aug 19th, 2019

I booked this hotel due to the free airport shuttle and it being on my cruise shuttle's route. I was a little hesitant after reading some reviews about it being in disrepair. However, upon arriving at the hotel our worries were unfounded. The hotel looked recently renovated. Our room was comfortable and clean as was the hotel. It is located near several restaurants and stores that the hotel provides a free shuttle to if you don't feel like walking. We used the service to grab some last minute supplies for our cruise. It was fast and friendly (you need to tell the hotel when you are leaving and call them when you need to be picked up.) I attended that happy hour, BOGO house cocktails. It was decent but nothing special. The only complaint I have which was beyond the hotel's control was that when we first arrived to the airport, the telephone lines to the hotel were down. No one could call for a shuttle. We ended up sending an email and someone came after 1.5 hrs. Other than that we enjoyed our stay and would happily stay again. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

We stay frequently and find the hotel and employees to be perfect for us. Staff members are professional & personable; hotel is clean & not reeking in strong fragrances &/or chemicals. Rates are reasonable too. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
