Filthy room

Mar 28th, 2021

Bathroom had brown splatter all around the base of the toilet and black smudges on the rest of the floor. The ventilation unit was rusty. The staff was less than friendly and ran through their scripted instructions so fast you didn’t have time to register what they said. Breakfast, which should’ve been included, was simply a to-go box and an extra $6 charge. While the location was great and the price reasonable, I did not feel comfortable in an unclean room during a time when cleanliness is of the utmost importance. As a nurse manager, if my cleaning staff had left a bathroom looking like that, they’d be fired! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Previously a Good Stay, Disappointing this time

Nov 11th, 2020

Disappointing. Not Poor but not average either. This was an unusual stay. I will foreshadow by saying we stayed here in July and it was mostly pleasant. The trip started off on the wrong foot. We have to travel 4.5 hours to get there so I wanted to book the pool for once we arrived after a long drive for my family. They refused. I even offered to check in mobility so I could book it. Nope again. Next, when we did arrive we were happy to see the clean seal on the door meaning the room was previously sanitized. Well, that was horrible lived; the items I had previously requested in advance were not there (extra pillows and blankets). Then, we find a sneaker and sock were left by the previous guest in the room. How do you say the room has been throughly cleaned and sealed but miss a sneaker? Things just were not the same after that. Yes, they came and took the sneaker and sock but it was of little service after that. Family was not convinced the cleaning protocols were being followed. I had to run out and get cleaning supplies and clean all the surfaces to ensure the family felt comfortable. Then I went to shower and found the tub stopper broken and sitting on the bottom of the shower tub. Mind you the staff was very accommodating but this was not what I came to expect from this hotel. May have to rethink our plans in the area in the future. Very disappointing. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

COVID Modifications

Nov 10th, 2020

We stayed here for a weekend visit to Harrisburg. There are certain modifications in place due to COVID which we expected. Use of the pool is limited to one room at a time, for one hour. So if you want to use the pool, you need to reserve in advance. The made-to-order breakfast is not happening but they provide you with a boxed breakfast - microwavable breakfast sandwich, piece of fruit, can of juice and cereal bar - very filling and easy to eat in your room. There is no housekeeping during your stay due to COVID which is okay, just wish we could have put garbage out. All of these are understandable, just wanted to let everyone know so you can prepare. We were pleased with the hotel - it was very clean, good location, friendly staff (especially Quasha at the front desk!). We would stay here again. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Close to Hershey, clean, look for blinds for good night sleep

Aug 26th, 2020

Located in the middle of all Harrisburg and Hershey attractions. Clean rooms, swimming areas. I miss the complementary breakfast (but that's due to COVID). I lost some sleep due to the difficulty of finding where the blinds where, as the exterior of the building is well lit at night. Rest assured, the darker blinds are in the window pane track, but easily missed. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Stayed a few days to visit Hersheypark

Aug 16th, 2020

Came to this location with family for our annual family weekend to Hersheypark. It has been tough to try planning anything during this pandemic situation. When Hersheypark offered their ticketing special we jumped on them and then started looking for hotels to stay. The past several years, we stayed in New Cumberland, because of the family, but I I figured we could get a little closer to Hershey and found this location. The amenities were ok, but were limited. Had to sign up for the pool, which I understand, but only allowed one family in the area for an hour. They have two pools. If made it kind of awkward because people would sign up for the pool and not show up for their slot. On our second day, it rained all day and many times, no one was in the pool areas. We signed up for later in the day since we could only have one time slot per day. The room on the surface appeared clean and I was impressed that it is posted that they use Lysol when cleaning. Upon a little deeper examination, the sheets appeared soiled from not being treated before washing. We requested more sheets and did not have anyone in the room for the remainder of the stay. The micro/fridge combo was nice and the fridge froze items but was a good thing, just too small. About day two, we realized that the a/c unit was leaking water under the carpeting. I stepped on the floor and thought my shoe was slightly wet but ignored it. The last morning I inadvertently walked the area in socks and my foot was wet. It must be a new leak since room did not have a musty smell. I would stay again, but hopefully when COVID-19 restricts are lighter. The breakfast was missed. I looked at the Tomato Cafe menu, (restaurant across the street) and it was not appealing to me. Eating breakfast at Sheetz or the Hardee’s is not my true cup of tea. Staff was nice when I encountered someone. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
