The Case of the Missing Jewelry Bag

Someone with key access to my room went through my luggage and stole my jewelry bag!! A Hilton Rep states there’s nothing they can do!! Oh, I forgot to mention they did file an incident report with hotel! I’m so pissed!! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER 

Great location

After leaving our previous hotel only 8 hours into check-in, we were on a last minute hunt for a new hotel. The Hilton Garden Inn Downtown was great from the moment we arrived. The even gave us a free upgrade with a view that was awesome! The saltwater pool they claimed to be heated was one of the main reasons we chose them, unfortunately it was freezing! Overall we had a nice stay. Parking was $17 a day, but if you plan on leaving the hotel 2-3 times a day to grab your car I would highly recommend paying the $37 for valet, as $17 racks up after only 3 hours! Incredible experience

I booked an overnight for myself and my 2 boys to celebrate their good grades. At check in the front desk staff was very friendly and helpful with an early arrival. We upgraded our rom so we could go right up. My boys were really excited about the higher floors so they made sure we were up on the highest floor available. The pool was open and they had “time slots” to control the number of people in the pool. We went 3 different times that day and had the whole pool to ourselves. There is a lovely fireplace in the lobby that we enjoyed whenever we went in and out of the hotel. We had a snack and drink package that comes with a premium room. It was delivered to our room and there was a great variety of different items included. We loved having that extra “surprise”. Breakfast was also included in our premium room booked and we were able to call down and put in our orders and the front desk called us when it was ready to pickup. It was ideal since my boys were still in they pj’s, I just ran down and grabbed our breakfast (Which was all bagged up with utensils and condiments included) and we enjoyed breakfast in bed! I opted for valet service for parking which was ideal since we went to the zoo and out to eat in the evening. Valet service staff were incredibly nice and made sure our truck was waiting every time we needed to go. Such a wonderful experience, such a lovely staff and a beautiful building, rooms were spacious and clean. Thank you for such a great experience! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER 

Really bad!

We thought if we booked a suit on the top floor we'd have a nice room. Upon entering it looked great but that was the extent of it. What was touted as the penthouse was on par with most average hotels in China. You could barely see anything from two small windows. The carpet was filthy and all the furniture was old and disgusting. The mattress was terrible. There was built-up dirt in every corner and mold in the shower. Obviously the owners are letting this property go to the dogs. Everything from public halls to elevators needed a complete overhaul. The staff was genuinely nice and the coffee in the lobby was good. The location was excellent too. Right on the circle. So I will give it an extra star. But ownership needs to lower their price or do a major overhaul. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER 

More flaws than expected

Beautiful old building that use to be a bank. Two of the three elevators were broken for all 3 days we were there. Multiple "drunk vagrants" wonder through the hotel one day. Had to call the front desk multiple times to shut down a party in the room next to us at 1 am. Service from the front desk was great during the day and terrible at night. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
