Attentive/Southern Hospitality

Awesome stay ! The staff were very friendly and the valet guys are super helpful. Yummy food and accommodations. Great gym and indoor swim area. Ask for premium WiFi, you will need it for stays longer than 4 days. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Not worthy of the Hilton brand

Nov 11th, 2019

I typically don't leave reviews unless something was really good or really bad about my experience. Unfortunately this stay was a bad one. When I tried to check in, there were three other people standing near the desk whose reservations had been messed up, and mine had, too. The hotel had been overbooked and they couldn't give me the room that I had reserved. Even though there were three of us sharing a room, I took a single king bed (after standing at the desk for 20 minutes) just so we would have somewhere to stay. It took three additional requests (all with heavy sighs and eye rolls from the desk attendant) to get a roller bed delivered to the room, which didn't arrive until almost 11pm. The door to the room looked like it had recently been kicked in - the handle was only loosely attached, a big patch of paint was missing where a lock had been, and the wood was split with a large crack by the handle. The carpet was stained, and the shower door was loose (both the hinge and the handle). Our last night there (Saturday), there was some kind of huge party downstairs, and even though we were on one of the upper floors, the bass was so loud, the beds were shaking. We only used valet parking for the first night since we arrived late, but when we checked out they tried charging us for three nights - even though we had a printed confirmation sheet from the valet service billing us for one. Overall, an experience that I would expect from a discount chain for a third of the price. Would not recommend and will not stay here again. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Friendly and inept

Well ... no really healthy selections on room service menu. And if they were on menu, they didn't have it. Room service came - no cutlery, no glass, no salt, pepper ... just a plate. I ordered room service because I saw only 2 people on street in an hour's time. Room was moldy and circa turn of century. I am wondering if Hilton is about to sell it. Mike Rose is doing flips in his grave! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

The Lovely Lobby is a Veneer for Subpar Everything Else

Nov 4th, 2019

The lobby was lovely and offered a great first impression. Once at the front desk, though, everything fell apart. There were three people at the front desk—two clearly on duty and another person standing to the side. When I walked up, both people on duty said, "Welcome," rather quickly and without looking at me, and continued to have a conversation with the third person. At no point did either of the on-duty front desk workers make eye contact with me or my wife. Instead, one of them asked my name, but continued her conversation with the third person, so I had to repeat myself three times. After she found my reservation, she said, "Okay, you can insert your card," with no additional explanation. The problem was that I had prepaid, so it surprised me when the credit card machine flashed $134 and then read "processing." When I asked whether or not I had actually prepaid when I reserved the room, she simply responded with, "Yeah, this is just in case." She then handed me the key cards and moved to the other computer, continuing to chat with the third person. When I got to the room—Room 624—is was absolutely filthy. There were crumbs of what looked like Dorito's all over the carpet, which was likewise covered in stains. The bedspread was stained and there was hair in the bed. For the first time in my life, ever, I called the front desk, told them about the cleanliness issue, and requested a new room. I repeat: This was the first time I have ever done this. I then went down to the front desk and got keys for a new room—Room 628, right down the hall. This room too was disgusting—the desk was covered in a sticky film, the carpet had multiple large, dark stains, the bedspread looked outright dirty, and the there was a hole in the wall near the bathroom. I almost felt embarrassed for having to request another room for the second time, but for $134/night, I couldn't let it go. This time I took pictures and went down to the front desk in person instead of calling. I even apologized for being a burden. When the front desk agent saw me, she said, "Was there something wrong with that one?" I said, "Yes. The same issues. I took pictures just to be clear." I showed her the pictures of the carpet, and she responded by explaining that the hotel is "vintage," and thus stains that like are to expected. Let me be very clear: The only thing "vintage" about the hotel is the exterior and the lobby. The rooms were modern. Those stains were not the product of vintage authenticity. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Gets Worse With Every Stay

Nov 3rd, 2019

I have to stay here on my work trips to Jackson mainly because of the proximity to the Federal Building and safety. Jackson itself can be a bit dangerous at times. The government was paying for this trip but I would never spend my own money to stay at this place. Honestly tho only good things about this hotel are the lobby and the bar. Cleanliness of the rooms continue to be a problem. The carpet was covered in dust and lint and there were even peanuts on the floor by the bed. Clearly they don't vacuum the rooms. The shower head was useless and sprayed water in all directions. There was something in the trash can by the elevator that smelled like old rotten food. Hilton really needs to step in and correct this place. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
