Might have reached outstanding, but . . .

Jan 12th, 2020

A pleasant property, southeast of downtown between I-95 and the I-295 beltway. Wonderful staff (hope that Tasha is on the front desk; she got us settled at our late arrival — even brought us duvets personally), and hope the Philly native Kristen is working the breakfast room. She's a wizard at nonintrusive attentiveness.) The beds and showers are great, and we learned to look for a larger-than-usual room; hint, they're often handicapped-accessible rooms not claimed or corner rooms. You can see the layouts online. Breakfast was yummy and plentiful. The downsides are both in the dining area, however. The room is small, and so it's populated by tiny two-person tables (mostly), not much bigger than a chessboard. Makes it difficult to spread things out. And worst of all about this hotel is the obnoxious, intrusive, overbearing, unnecessary, uncomfortable (could go on) LOUD MUSIC in the lobby and dining area. What ignoramus in Hilton Corporate thought sales or guest comfort would increase with vocal rock music playing LOUDLY overhead? I met the GM and complained; he smiled, shrugged, and said nothing. You have two options. (1) Ask the front desk to TURN DOWN THE DIN while you're eating — the staff cheerfully agreed to do so here. Or, if you're intimidated, bring large sound-cancelling earmuffs. It's bad enough that one is accosted by bad music not of one's choosing in malls, pharmacies, and even outside in entertainment districts. Brittney Spears over eggs is not a pleasant breakfast option. Like all HGIs, this hotel puts out the nearly useless 3-wheel zippy airport-style carts that hold little and allow backpacks, etc., to fall through and onto the floor. But at least it has ONE standard cart. Your odds that someone hasn't snatched it and kept it in a guest room are slim, however. If you bring your earbuds, though, this is a nice hotel. Oh, and NOTE TO TRIP ADVISOR. Your questions (below) are often hard to answer. No. 1, for instance: Yes, breakfasts are free if you're a Hilton Honors member, but not otherwise. So I checked NO. Deerfield Hilton Garden Inn Excellent

Jan 10th, 2020

Last year Hilton Honors helped us find this hotel when no other were available in Jacksonville area. We liked it enough to plan on staying there this year on our way to Southern Florida. Great restaurant next door - easy on and off on 95! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Not the best stay

Jan 9th, 2020

We came to Jacksonville to spend time at Christmas with family. We checked in and went to the room to make sure everything was okay. We didn’t get any hot water, so we requested another room. This room didn’t have hot water either. When my boyfriend complained to the front desk, we were told that they couldn’t guarantee which rooms would have hot water. We finally got a room that had hot water and the bed was comfortable. Unfortunately, the pillows that they have at all he Hilton properties as not very good, they offer no support. This location did have adequate seating for the room. The day after Christmas, we had the buffet they offer. It was comped, and that was he best part of it. Food was just okay, nothing to write home about. The cost of the breakfast if not included is almost $13. I would have been upset if we had paid for that. It is overpriced for what you get. Hotel is in a good location and is near the places we went. Chances are really good that we will not stay at this property again. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Short, but still a great stay!

What a great stay! Friendly staff, Marvelous lobby on check in. Everyone was so comfortable, the lobby was in use like a living room even at 10pm on a Monday night when I checked in. There is just no reason to go anywhere else when staying in Jacksonville. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
