Ultimate Restful stay
Jan 23rd, 2021
First of All, Id like to say that I love Hilton Hotels. There Military family/ Government rate demonstrates their support of our veterans and service members. I am a Hilton Honors diamond member and try to stay at Hiltons whenever possible. After my deployment, my partner and I wanted a do nothing type of vacation. Were typically active travelers but needed to rest, relax and regroup. Arrival: We ordered the airport transfer which was $266 there and back. I originally thought that was expensive, but when reading other reviews for airport charges to reviews it was higher, but not significantly. Its my understanding that while uber works in/around the city you cant find on at the airport. You may be able to walk to the main road and get one. But we didn’t want to have to think, so we let Hilton do the work for us. The driver was polite, had waters waiting for us, took less then 5 minutes to arrive once we left the airport doors and there was somebody at the location that they tell you to come to. He also kept his mask on the entire ride. He ordered drinks of our choice to be fresh and ready when we arrived at the hotel, Pina Coladas for us! Check in: Easy, fast, great customer service. As a Hilton honors member we had already been upgraded to an ocean front view room. Customer service through the entire stay was phenomenal. Rooms: After initial booking we came across another room type that we wanted to see. It was their new plunge pool rooms with “Altmar Amenities.” We decided last minute to upgrade out room to this suite. It was fabulous. Although the room itself was typical of what I would expect at a Hilton resort, the additional touches were nice. Because we upgraded last minute, there were a few things that we had to wait a bit for, but I think I normally ready for you upon arrival. Tequila shots. Slippers and a Club vista bag. Slippers and Robes. We heard that these rooms and the property underwent a major renewal in 2018 and the property is gorgeous. They replenished water in room every day. You could request no entry/no cleaning… but we didn’t and every night they did a turn down service with essential oils/aromatherapy on bed. We didn’t use the plunge pool during the day much, but it was awesome in the late evenings after happy hour. They have it lit up, it wasn’t cold and very relaxing to get out and be able to go straight to the soaking tub in the room. It did have a small refrigerator that was stoked with minibar items, but we didn’t use any of those. Amenities: With the Altmar suite we received additional amenities that are not standard. This was part of the reason we decided to upgrade. The free happy hour (1 hour) in the evening was nice. At no time was there more than 1 other couple/group of 3 down there with us. It felt like we had the bartender to yourself. They have a choice of 5 wines, all local (red, rose and white) and bottled Corona for beer drinkers. They also bring out a little sweet snack. All of them had beautiful presentation. The happy hour “bar” is beach side. They have cute swings at the bar, beach bean bags with lights and candles. It was the perfect place to catch the sunset every night. We are not huge drinkers and one of the reasons all inclusive resorts were not a big pull for us. However, even with 1-2 glasses of wine and 3-4 beers we still probably saved $80-100 US dollars a night. One of my favorites was the coffee in the morning. Free with our room we ordered a French press every morning about 730. They were timely and it was the perfect way to start your morning. Although we also had coffee for breakfast, having it brought to your room, sitting on patio watching the sunrise is the epitome of vacation!! And it was French press!! They also had a special cordoned off lace for vista club (comes with Altmar suites). They had done such a good job of social distancing and were not at capacity so this wasn’t huge for us, but I can see it being an awesome perk If its crowded. We heard that pre covid the vista club had a room with drinks and snack that you could help yourself to, but I’m guessing as a covid precaution that has been suspended. Instead, we received welcome waters on ice poolside every morning. They have a time schedule where about every 90 minutes in the afternoon they bring a small snack. My favorite was the Guacamole. They also had a massage chair brought down from the spa and gave free 5-minute chair massages. I only used once but it was lovely. Gym: I know, your thinking who puts vacation and gym in the same equation. Here’s the thing. Gyms had been closed downrange and I had been qaurteneining. I was craving movement. Our “vacation” was also a chance to reboot overall wellness. If you’re in the military, you also know a week off of running and resort food and being close to making weight can equal disaster. So I’m usually wanting to be active (mostly so I can eat more). My partner had also not lifted/been to a gym in almost a year and was loving the burn after one day. I had not yet been comfortable going to bigger gyms back in the states. However, the covid standards they had here made me feel comfortable enough to go. They had their bikes, a rower, and I think its called a TREX machine (I don’t know, I don’t use that) in an outdoor space. There’s also a green outdoor space right in front of gym that’s is perfect for doing stretching or yoga type activity. You must make a reservation; they have masks and sanitizer at front door. They also gave us bottled water upon entrance. They had a service person who literally cleaned everything, even if she just cleaned it. She had a disinfectant bottle in her hand the whole time. The treadmills were blocked so people could only use every other one. For someone who was nervous this was very comforting, and I was able to get a run in most days. We would get up early, got to the gym and be back in time for our French press coffee! It motivated me to finish the run. Happy hour: In addition to our free happy hour the hotel offers a happy hour to guests. I think I paid 16$ for two mojitos and they had another deal of two beers for $7. I was a little disappointed that no food/snacks were included in happy hour. We didn’t use this after the first night because the vista club happy hour was better for us. Food: As a Hilton honors member I get breakfast included free anyways. However, it was a “continental breakfast” it had fruit, oatmeal, cereal, pastries. Fresh pressed juice and coffee. No buffet, all single plates brought out to you. If you’re not a huge breakfast person, this might be an oaky choice for you. However, when we upgraded we also got an upgrade to “American Breakfast” which included hot meals. I’m a vegetarian and had no problem finding food. The waiter also asked if we had any food allergies. Expect the menu to be pretty Americanized and high end. If we had to pay for the breakfast it was about $30pp. The breakfast was so filling we usually didn’t get hungry again for a full meal until closer to dinner time, especially with pool side snacks. All but one day, the only seating was outside which was lovely and covid compliant. The restaurants seemed to be operating on a every other day schedule, so if you stay at least 2 days you should have access to both. We ate at El Mason and were pleasantly surprised that it just happened to be all you can eat taco Tuesday. I had the fish and vegetarian tacos and my partner had the chicken. We didn’t have the margaritas, but I think those were buy one get one. We didn’t get to eat at the other restaurant. We ordered room service two nights and it was perfect. Typically, we love getting out into the culture and experiencing local food. However, the hotel (and most in the area) are situated in a way that the only thing around is other resorts. So its not located where you can just step out and walk around. We did go to a local grocery store about 7 minutes away and while we were their they made fresh quesadillas and had prepared food that we ate for lunch one day and it was perfect. The beach restaurant has small light snacks and tacos. We had pizza one night and nachos one afternoon. They have the pizza fire oven right there and everything was fresh. I saw in someone else’s review to plan on about $200 a day oin food and I think they might average – with our breakfast and happy hour included ours was more typical of 80-100 a night for two people. COVID: Obviously travel is a very personal choice right now. After deployment, I needed to get away and relax. We took precautions but the resort also did an excellent job with covid precautions. It was actually a nice break. All the staff had on masks, our concierge met us downstairs at the room and took the stairs, so he didn’t have to share a elevator with us, the restaurant staff had both mask and face shield, there were one way arrows. I’m not sure if they have a capacity limit but there were times, we felt we had the hotel to our self. Sunrises and sunsets were perfect. The beach chairs and restaurant chairs were being disinfected (we observed), the towels wrapped in plastic. It all made us feel very at ease. I honestly don’t have much to say I was dissatisfied with at the resort, particularly given the current covid considerations. The only thing that came as a surprise were some extra taxes that were not included in my original quote online, but with upgrading my room it was hard to compare before/after prices and we were supposed to get a farewell authentic Mexican gift that somehow was overlooked, but they were apologetic and immediately responded that they would add a resort credit to the bill. Awesome place to reground, recenter, regroup and reenergize. Follow our journey, exploration and adventures for more reviews #thenomadicwarriors TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Beautiful property that fully met all of our needs!
Jan 21st, 2021
We stayed at the Hilton Los Cabos from 1/14 - 1/19 and had another amazing stay. We first stayed at this property in 2018 and thoroughly loved our stay, so when we were looking for somewhere to get away during this Covid time, we felt this would be a perfect spot due to the remote feel and seclusion of the property! They had made multiple upgrades to the property since our last visit, making it even more incredible. Due to it being our 30th anniversary, I splurged a little more and upgraded to one of their Plunge Pool suites, which are beachfront facing on first floor with your own wading pool right off your private patio with picturesque views of the beach line. Was able to spend multiple early mornings on our patio watching spectacular sunrises! While our flights to Cabo were packed, and the airport seemed to be bustling, I was surprised at how empty the hotel seemed to be. Obviously, Covid is still having a significant impact on travelers - but I felt extremely comfortable the entire stay. Plenty of space to spread out, and it was very evident the number of steps the property was taking to keep everything wiped down and safe. Unfortunately, because of the current situation, there were scaled down options within the restaurants - with the amazing breakfast buffet from our first visit not available and the two primary restaurants for the property alternating nights of availability - but food options were still excellent. The staff was extremely welcoming and attentive and made us feel very appreciated - special call outs to Jose, Clemente and Oskar from the restaurant staffs, and to Alfredo, Andres and Christian with Vista Club pool side service. There was also a young lady each morning in the fitness center who did an outstanding job attending do every need, while also hustling to wipe down every piece of equipment right after it was used - wish I would have caught her name. So much more I could say, but all in all it was an outstanding stay and I'm sure we will return - hopefully in more normal conditions! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Our Happy Place
Jan 12th, 2021
We have been frequenting the Cabo Hilton for about 5 years with at least 1 visit/ year. Our stay was canceled in July of 2020 so we made it up in December 2020. We took our 17 year old with us on this visit. What can I say everything about this place is amazing. We have been so pleased every visit and this trip was no different. We arrived later in the evening. everything was clean and we quickly checked in and assisted to our room. The room was amazing! We had a 2 room suite so our son could have his own bed. It is a sofa bed but he said it was comfortable. We ate the breakfast buffet everyday and we loved how it was different and delicious everyday. The breakfast quesadillas are a must. We all used the gym and it was very clean and well kept. There was always someone there to assist and wipe down the equipment. There were several changes to the pools from our last visit. All of the enhancements were outstanding! We typically hang at the Vista pool but this time we mostly stayed at the new negative edge pool. I watched the whales and dolphins while my soaked up the sun. We typically do the Vista club because we enjoy the happy hour and the beverages in the fridge. The room was closed this visit so I went to Walmart to get soda and water for our room. The staff is AMAZING! Every member no matter where you are or what you are doing is outstanding. They are so friendly, kind, and helpful. Paul that welcomed us at the front is great. He is such a happy and welcoming person. We will be back in June to celebrate our 25th anniversary because there is no place we would rather visit. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Hilton Los Cabos January 2021
Jan 9th, 2021
It had been more than a year since we went to Cabo in 11/19 before The Chinese Plague hit. So we were cautious about traveling with the pandemic still in play. In January 2021 we decided to travel to Cabo and return to the Hilton where we've stayed more than 15 times in the past. Much like several friends who had ventured down to Cabo, we also agreed that we felt much safer in Cabo than in the States. The Hilton has a temperature device that reads your hand temperature when you check in, and any time you go out and return to the property. ALL the employees wore masks 100% of the time. Unlike how many anti-masking Americans wear a mask with it pulled down under their nose, EVERYONE in Cabo wore a mask correctly. In fact the entire time we were in Cabo, every local wore a mask ABOVE their nose: All the hotel employees, ALL the taxi cab drivers, ALL the golf course staff, even the peddlers on the beach work a mask and were careful to NOT come close to you unless you went to them. We learned that Cabo took a gut punch from March to October, with many losing their jobs. It appears they all understand that communicating extreme carefulness will be the way out of their abyss. The Hilton was extremely careful with sanitization. The check-in staff spayed a sanitizer on your credit card and receipt before they handed it back. Pens were sanitized. Our room was fabulous (thank you Johanna!). We recognized our long term acquaintances like Paul at the front and others around the hotel. We felt that hotel was at most 40% of capacity which enabled us to feel very safe. In the restaurants, tables were 10 feet part, and beach chairs provided lots of space. Overall, aside from the plane flight down and back, Cabo seemed like it was much safer than the U.S. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Beautifully renovated - Best in Class
Jan 5th, 2021
My husband and I had last been to this property just before it's most recent renovation. It was a beautiful property before and now it is even better. Since our last visit we have been going to resorts like One and Only and Chileno Bay so my comparison with this most recent trip to Hilton Los Cabos compares against resorts in a much more pricey and high end classification. The Hilton Los Cabos has those properties beat with their new food and beverage array for sure. Pool and beachside choices are phenomenal including sushi options at Mio. The restaurants have upgraded their menus and the food across the board was spectacular. One note: in the pandemic there are no drink menus which perhaps could be handled by emailing or texting a pdf of the specialty drink menu to guest upon check in. One of the pleasures of being at a beachy resort is perusing all the drink options and experimenting and that pleasure is gone with the absence of specialty drink menus. The room was just as spacious and well appointed as last time we were here. The addition of the Adults Only Serenity infinity pool was a welcome addition. Many guest were enjoying the expansive Beach Club area that is a new addition to their beach front and beach cliffside which includes shaded lounge chairs, cabanas, a bar area etc. We did numerous massages in the Spa and my masseuse Valeria was absolutely amazing...world class. Johanna in concierge guest services was amazingly responsive and helpful before and during the trip. The Hilton's commitment to customer service was very apparent and definitely rivaled or at least equalled the concierge services at the higher end resorts I mentioned. Room service which we had for breakfast everyday was prompt, terrific and on point. Since we were there for Christmas they had numerous fun things like Santa Claus and an elf landing on the beachfront in a helicopter on 12/24 for a visit, a very covid safe Christmas Day buffet dinner with covid safe live entertainment. Overall their commitment to safety, distancing etc was very apparent. In summation, the Hilton Los Cabos is doing it right and continuing to up their game. We had a marvelous stay.
