Avoid the mice

Dec 3rd, 2019

Stayed for one night, went foe a drink after dinner at the bar and saw 2 mice run across the floor- told the bar man and didn’t seem too bothered , same at reception when checked out. Not Hilton standard abs would definitely not eat there . Room was ok but the mice put me off ever returning TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great staff & fantastic breakfast

Dec 2nd, 2019

Overall a great experience. As others have commented, drivers cannot locate the hotel. I was basically kicked out of a taxi by a driver screaming at me that I was at the right location. I should note I was dropped off at a construction site, in the rain & fog and had to use google maps to walk to the hotel. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Worst experience ever! The staff was rude, and not helpful at all. There was jackhammers going ob outside my room.

I would bot recommend this hotel. The staff was incredibly rude and made our first trip to Paris start badly. We ended up switching hotels and thankfully our stay Hotel Raphael was incredible! I will not be staying at another Hilton for a while after my experience at Hilton La Defense. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Very good, reliable grown-up hotel

Nov 19th, 2019

I wouldn't normally stay at a Hilton as it would be too expensive but there was a good deal on Booking.com so off I went. The Hilton is a proper, grown-up hotel with all the bits and bobs that make it a known quantity throughout the world. I arrived and was greeted by super-friendly, super-efficient reception staff and handed my key and pointed to the lifts with slick professionalism. The room was large and lux-y and had everything necessary for a comfortable stay - easy to operate lights, tv, shower, and telephone and a mini-bar, unused save for a bottle of water - surprised that there was no complimentary water. I ordered room service (burger and chips) and this arrived promptly and didn't disappoint. I then called down (we are at about 8.30pm by this time) and asked if they had decaf coffee. Yes, they said. I'll have a pot of it please, I said. And it arrived shortly afterwards and was drunk fairly quickly. Well, five hours later I was still bolt upright and my mind was racing at 100mph. Was it really decaf? Who can say, but, untypically, I was unable to sleep at all well that night. I did eventually drop off and when I woke up I headed to the bathroom. The shower as mentioned was easy to operate but for some reason was only about five and a half feet high which meant I (as a surely fairly typical six-footer) had to stoop down to be fully covered by it. Very strange and slightly irritating. I didn't have breakfast so can't comment and when I went downstairs and told them about decaf coffee-gate they made all the right sympathetic noises and took off my bill the water I'd had from the minibar. So in all a fairly typical high class hotel experience marred only slightly by a question mark over the coffee and also a funny shower placement. Oh and no free water to drink. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Fine hotel with access to metro

Nov 14th, 2019

The hotel itself was satisfactory. Nothing stood out as particularly impressive, except perhaps the bathtub in the relaxation room, if you plan on using that. The elevator requires a room key to use, keep that in mind so you don't stand in the elevator not knowing how to go up. The main draw of the hotel is that it's connected to the La Defense metro station, which has the L train to Versailles, the RER A which connects to the RER B at Chatelet La Halle to go to CDG, as well as Metro line 1 to reach the Arc of Triumph and downtown palace. The station is connected to the mall, which houses the hotel, so you won't need to exit the building to get to the station. Being the gateway to Versailles, it was very convenient to stop by the hotel from downtown Paris to freshen up before proceeding to the palace. (Palace was overrated though, imo) TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
