City Line Hilton same old place

Jan 28th, 2020

I have stayed in this hotel for years because its five minutes from my 8am meeting. Seems like each time I have some kind of issue. Rooms are fine, breakfast is buffet average. This time room service did not answer the phone two times. Ordered outside Pizza and delivery was frustrating. Same old Same old! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Very good service, but several minor issues

Jan 25th, 2020

Very good service, clean room (other than the first room I was given, which smelled of smoke - not much the hotel can do about jerks smoking in the room). On the negative side, though minor - low water pressure, no sugar or sweeteners with the in-room coffee, and the lobby automatic sliding doors were not working (the second time this happened at this location). The service just sucked THAT bad

Jan 24th, 2020

I checked in and they couldn’t find my reservation by my name, finally found it by reservation number. Told me the king bed I booked wasn’t available, even though they gave one to the man who came after me. I was in my room for 5 minutes before another couple walked in behind me who had been given the same room key. I called the front desk repeatedly to try to report it- was put on hold for 5 minutes and then hung up on. When I finally got ahold of someone, management came by my room to “inform” me that there had been an issue with the room keys (I know, I was the one that told you). My keys stopped working after a couple hours, and the room was freezing when I arrived. Overall sucked. And I never leave reviews- it just sucked that bad. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Good & Bad Sums It Up!

Jan 21st, 2020

This hotel is located in lovely Bala Cynwyd. There are many stores and restaurants in the area and it is just a few blocks from St. Joseph's University. The beds were very comfortable and the staff was pleasant and helpful, but for each positive, there seemed to be a negative. For example, there is free parking available, but it is on the street, first come first served, and you must parallel park. Otherwise, there is a $15/day charge for valet parking or a $7-$13 charge to self-park in their lot down the street. The front desk staff was professional and flexible, but they had only one staff member at a time on the front desk, so I waited about 15-20 minutes to check in and about 10 minutes to check out. Breakfast is available, but it is not free. In fact, if you get room service, you will pay $3 for one banana, $7 for a bowl of cereal, $14 for pancakes, and $5 for toast! Breakfast for a family might cost more than the room! The room and bathroom look like they were decorated by a male with a penchant for dark brown. The shower has a nice rain-style shower head and a hand-held accessory, but the tiles are dark brown and yellowish-brown and the glass "door" encloses only half of the shower. This, coupled with the hand-held faucet, could spell disaster if you are travelling with children! The door from the entryway to the bathroom is mostly frosted glass, so it compromises your privacy. The blackout window shades really did the job; they were great! There is a fridge, but it is very small and hidden within the dresser, so if you don't look for it, you won't know it's there. We arrived early, and as a Hilton Honors member, they kindly let us check in early. However, the first two rooms they assigned us to were still dirty, so this makes me wonder how well the housekeeping department communicates with the front desk staff. The desk staff member offered me some Hilton points to compensate for my trouble, which was very nice, but switching rooms three times took an hour out of my day. The main entrance to the hotel requires guests to walk up about 8-10 steps; however, if you just happen to walk to the side, behind some plants, there is a ramp. I didn't see it, though, and no one mentioned it, so i yanked my suitcase up the steps! To operate the elevator, you must have your key in your hand, so that is kind of annoying. If I need to be in this area again, I might look for a different hotel with easy, free parking and a free breakfast. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
