San Diego Hilton Bayfront Comic Con experience.

Smiles and service greeted us. The staff were responsive and friendly. The room was clean and comfortable. It is close to the Gaalamp Quarter and provides detailed information when needed would reccomend the Bayfront as the place to stay in San Diego. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Awesome accommodation

We stayed at the Bayfront just for the night to be closer to the airport for an early morning departure. Karin Bergendahl Provided us with incredible service. She helped with our accommodations and made she we had everything we needed for a pleasurable stay. Our room had the most incredible view looking out over the bay. Highly recommend the Hilton and be sure to ask for Karin, she's an amazing concierge! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

All show on the outside, disappointing and rude on the inside.

We stayed for work over the weekend for Comic-Con. Usually we stay at the Manchester Hyatt, but this year our company had rooms at Hilton. Hopefully this is our last year getting a block of rooms here and will go back to Hyatt. While the hotel is convenient to the convention center, the rooms are small and the staff could use some training on customer service. First, we upgraded to a room with a view. Paying an extra $50 a night. They NEVER mentioned that the room was covered with a billboard. You could see out, but it was through a bunch of tiny holes and made it a bit lackluster. Fine, just be up front and let people know they're paying for a filtered view. Second, the room is so small. Compared to the Hyatt or Omni it feels very cramped and the bathrooms are so tiny. Even with an upgrade, it felt like an economy bathroom. Not a 350+ room. Third and final, the way they treat guests in the bar area is atrocious. Our company spent thousands this weekend on the hotel between events, rooms, dinners and drinks only to be treated like we were trespassing while sitting at the poolside bar. I get that SDCC is a crazy time, but it's also the biggest money making year for the area. So as the con is debating moving to Vegas, maybe treat your guests with a little respect? As we were sitting at our table a man approached us at 11pm in a very pissy tone to ask us to wrap up and pay our bill. Security would be clearing the area from the pool back to us in the bar. The place was packed, and from the way he made it sound from the direction they were starting to clear, we'd be the last that would need to go. We told him ok, we'll finish up, pay our tab and get going. Not five minutes later he came up and told us we had to pay and leave NOW. There were still a ton of people on both ends of the bar, but somehow we were treated like we were massive drunks hanging out after everyone left. I was completely sober and shocked how he was talking to us. I told him we were guests of the hotel and I couldn't believe how rude he was being. He didn't care. We got up and left and as we walked out, he rudely said to my co-worker, "thanks for lying about needing to pay the bill still." Look jerk, he didn't know another co-worker had already paid it and only realized it when we immediately left angry over how we were being treated. The night before, when the bar was closing down, the waiter let us know that it was last call. Then politely took our last drink orders and let us finish them. There was no last call this night, just a man in a coat giving me the impression he was a manager snapping at us to leave with no warning. Seriously, let the nice bartender who worked Friday night be a manager because he knows how to actually treat guests, or any human being for that manner. If you don't want the crowds of people hanging around who aren't guests, ask them to leave at 10 and only let hotel guests who can show their key stay until 11. Then politely give a last call around 10:45. Don't just snap at everyone to slam their drinks they ordered and leave with a five minute warning. If the hotels can't handle a big convention weekend, and are going to be rude to guests, maybe it is time to move it out of San Diego. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Unfortunate event

I stayed at the hotel July 14th and 15th for business. Comic con was setting up at this time as well. So I decided to pay for an upgraded room with a bay front view to watch the events and lights from my window on the 16th floor. On the second night they obscured my paid for window views with banners advertising comic con. They never told me this was scheduled to happen AND when I asked for a 30 min late checkout they made it a huge issue and said NO. When I pointed out to the Mgr that I Paid for a view that I was not able to enjoy it due to their lack of communication or concern they begrudgingly “ allowed” me a delayed 30 min. Checkout. I should point out that check out time is 11 o’clock am ,and check in time is at 4pm. Typically a hotel allows a customer a delay in checking out upon request. Their customer service is greatly lacking. The reason they tendered for not wanting to allow a delayed checkout was that they wanted the room to take photographs of comicon. Strange, my reason for wanting the room was to view the events, and that was obliterated by their banner. Something I paid for and never received. My customer experience was very poor. I will not be staying at this hotel in future visits. The management at the hotel was not very friendly nor wanting to be accommodating. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Stayed here while attending the IACC/CLLA convention. Beautiful facility overlooking the bay. Staff is friendly and helpful with suggestions when asked. Ate at both restaurants and food was excellent! Lot of fun things to do within walking distance, so never a dull moment if you wan to be busy! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
