Does not honor HH diamond upgrade

Feb 19th, 2020

I was told upon checkin that no upgrades were available that night, but later looking at the reservation site I found out that both higher floor and king size bed rooms were available for booking. I contacted the hotel using the app messaging option, but never received an answer there either. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Not the same

Feb 16th, 2020

We’ve stayed at this hotel numerous times over the years. I’ve always felt the highlights of this hotel were their location and the executive lounge. The location hasn’t changed but the executive lounge was removed. The lounge offered a great place to relax and stretch out. Also the trend for many hotels has been to go to 24 hour fitness room access. That isn’t available here either. Overall, if you are a Hilton Diamond member, I recommend to go to the Homewood Suites down the road instead. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Over night before surger

Feb 14th, 2020

2 of us got food poisining from the breakfast buffett! 2 hours after eating we were sick sick sick! Called down for foam pillows (that I requested when I called to make the reservation) and it took. 1:15 for them to arrive after 3 phone calls! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Good, with some drawbacks

Feb 11th, 2020

I stayed here for a business meeting. Overall, a nice stay. The room was fine. It was quiet and comfortable. The staff at the front desk was very pleasant at check in, and check out, and helped me with calculating best time to head back to the airport. Because I was presenting, I needed to iron a shirt, but the iron in the room didn't work. I called the desk, and they said they'd send up an iron. Later, I went to the front desk to report that the iron didn't work. And neither did the clock in the room. Both were noted, and they said they'd send make it right. The next morning, I left the iron on the counter in the bathroom with a note saying it and the clock didn't work. When I got back to the room, they had switched out the iron. The clock still didn't work. I asked for wake-up calls, but it would have been nice to have a clock visible in the room. There is not much close by for dinners. I ate at the restaurant in the hotel. I enjoyed the food, but each booth has a television overlooking the table! All were showing golf the night I was there. I found the TV distracting. But if you like golf? Well, there you go! It's about 15-20 minutes by cab into downtown San Diego, or to the airport. Thought the food at the meeting, catered by the hotel, was good. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Why are the hallways leading to guest rooms so DARK?!

Feb 10th, 2020

Ugh. I suppose some designer thought dark hallways would just be sooo stylish, but when I am in a hotel, I want to feel SAFE, and I want to be able to SEE. Step off the elevator and the hallways here are super dark. Small, low lights at each guest room door. Can't see in my purse to fumble for the key card. Creeped out that someone is lurking in the shadows behind me. I HATED this. The beds were comfortable, the towels were wonderful. But again...rather DARK in the bathroom, too! What is with that? It's San Diego. Sun and light are the whole point. Why is everything so moody here? We also had drunk women screaming -- a girls getaway gone bad -- next door, and in the wee hours lots of slamming of doors and an inebriated 20-something wailing "I thought you were my friend!" at the top of her lungs, while another girl dragged her down the (dark) hall. Several doors opened up with angry guests peeking out, asking what the heck is going on? Not Hilton's fault but when I called the front desk they offered to move ME. Why me? Why not the drunk girls? Not a good stay. We go to San Diego a lot, so next time I'll be sure I have a sunny, happy, light-filled hotel or inn as my base. Room was physically comfortable and clean, so I hate to rate it "poor," but I was so uneasy here, it was worse than "average." TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
