OK Hotel, Horrible Restaurant Staff

We stayed here for 3 days, we found the room serviceable however one of the phones did not work, and in speaking with another guest they had the same issue. Front desk staff was helpful and friendly. The restaurant was another matter entirely, having been there in the morning and evening we dealt with a variety of staff and they were all rude and apathetic to the diners. We sat there one morning and watched the morning bartender offend 3 different sets of diners. In the evening the bar service was also horrible, with people's food left to sit and get cold, bartenders ignoring people, etc. ...and don't even TRY to be served a drink on the patio outside. Seems the hotel is missing revenue by serving drinks to the smokers on the patio lounge. The entire culture of service is just non-existent. Finally we wised up and went to the Marriot, which is also connected to the convention center and experienced pleasant, efficient service. Next year we will book that location for our convention stay instead. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

San Jose Summer Festival Stay.

Excellent location, close to restaurants and local events. The beds in the room was very comfortable. The hotel lobby was clean and inviting, offering casual seating. I would definitely book again next year. . TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Horribly run, not up to Hilton (or even Quality Inn) standards

If I could give a negative review of this hotel, I would. I stayed at this Hilton with a co-worker for five nights for business. We checked in late, at 11:30 pm. When we got to our room, we opened the door, and SOMEONE ELSE WAS ALREADY IN OUR ROOM. Fortunately I don't think we woke them up -- can you imagine being awoken by a stranger walking into your hotel room? In all my years of travels, this is the first time that this has ever happened to me. How bad does your booking system have to be that you can double book a room without realizing it? When we went down to fix the situation, the front desk staff assigned us a new room on a floor that was clearly mid-renovation, as evidenced by the construction crews all over the floor every day. No further remedy was offered. The next day, I started the morning by going to the hotel gym, in which two of the four treadmills were broken (one would not turn on, the other was permanently stuck at an approximately 5 degree slope). I then went for breakfast and discovered the only shining light at this hotel, which is the incredibly friendly morning restaurant staff (and the breakfast buffet is quite decent). However, further problems soon arose with our room to erase any chance at redemption. The next day, the cleaning staff forgot to replace the toilet paper roll in our room (and did not leave a spare), and we ran out of toilet paper in the mid-evening. I tried calling both housekeeping and the front desk a half dozen times between 9 and 10 pm to urgently obtain more toilet paper, but neither answered the phone. Fortunately the outdated shower head made for a decent bidet. The next morning, I had to go down to the front desk to obtain additional toilet paper in person. How embarrassing. It appears also that in complaining to the front desk staff about the toiler paper and requesting more, that I hit a nerve with the housekeeping staff, because the next day, housekeeping got revenge by not even bothering to clean our room. What a completely flim flam hotel operation. I have no idea how this Hilton has maintained even a one star rating. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Nice lobby and room, but lukewarm or scalding shower!

Shower temperature was hard to control! One morning I waited for five minutes covered with soap waiting for the temperature to return to non-scalding before I could rinse off! The other morning was a lukewarm shower! Bed was comfy and staff were friendly and helpful. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Poor service

Don't want go there again! Only big advantage is the location. There are reputed hotels present in close visinit too! The check out staff was not at all happy serving an Asian. Hilton should pay attention to this. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
