Marijuana, parties, and maggots

I booked a weekend "staycation" in one of the Villas here for my wife's birthday the end of July / beginning of August. When we arrived the lobby appeared very clean and the girl that checked me in was very polite, professional, and helpful (but I do not remember her name). That was where the good experience ended unfortunately. When we pulled up to the villas, we got out of our car and were greeted with a strong odor of marijuana. We went into our villa and I called the front desk and asked to be moved. The person that answered (not the person that checked me in) very rudely said "I don't have anywhere to move you to. I'll send security." To avoid getting upset, I agreed and got off the phone. I checked online and it showed there were other villas available. I called back to the front desk and the same person answered. I told her what I saw online and again received a rude response. "I don't know why it shows that, everything is booked." I hung up to avoid yelling at her. I called back a 3rd time and the girl that checked me in answered. I asked if I could get a refund and I would just check out of the hotel. She politely explained that there was an error with the booking site and they would be contacting them to get it resolved. She offered to move me to a room in the main hotel which was not comparable to the villa but at least she offered something. I was not interested in moving to a standard room. She offered to remove the charge for one of our two nights booked and also offered to have house keeping bring some air freshener if the smell was getting into our room. At this point it was not seeping into the room so I accepted the 1 night charge removal and carried on with our stay. The next morning when we left the room for a bit we could smell it coming from one of the rooms when we walked by the door but not nearly as strong as the night before. When we got back to the hotel, there it was again, stronger than ever. They were on the patio smoking, in their car smoking, and someone else in the other part of the parking lot walking around near their car smoking. At this point it would have been obvious who called on them if I called security or police so in fear of having them come knocking on our door angry at us, we just went to our room as quick as we could and closed the door. We went out to dinner and it was the same scenario when we left and returned. Again, just minded our business and went to our room. That night, a different room was throwing a party. The room that shared a wall with the bedrooms of our room. We let it go until we were ready to go to bed so at 11:30 I called the front desk. They sent security and they quieted down for a few minutes. When they got loud again, I called again. The person at the front desk started explaining that they can't control human behavior. I know they can't, I just wanted them to send security back out. They managed to get them to quiet down for the rest of the night after the second call. In the morning I was bringing our bags to the car to check out and when I opened the front door, what appeared to be a maggot wiggled out from under the door sill. I went to the front desk to check out expecting to be asked how my stay was (pretty standard for most hotels I have stayed at) but after the attendant came from the back room, I told her I was checking out, she asked for my room number and said "Okay, you're all set." Needless to say, we booked this as a getaway and we would have been better off staying home. The whole experience ruined my wife's birthday. They refunded 1 night but we would have much rather not spent the money at all because it was so horrible. I know they don't have control of what people do, but how the situations were handled were unacceptable. If they do have security on site, they clearly either do not patrol or just do not care because if they would have come by the area any time during the day Saturday, they would have smelled it. Good space, worn and old, thin walls

If space is all that is important, these villas have it. Would be easy to accommodate 2-6 people in 2 bdrm with fold-out sofa. Housekeeping did stay away, unless requested, which was great. Needs detail cleaning, especially during Covid-19. Return air vents look like they have never been cleaned. Other gunge in dishwasher, washer, shower, tub, windows, fake plants in vases covered with dust. Kitchen granite had large cracks and broken areas, lower shelf in dishwasher had no wheels, handles on bedside tables and dressers broken, microwave turntable did not turn, no screens in some windows, kitchen floor tile cracked and broken. We could hear every word, cough, snore from the villa adjacent to ours. Guest turnover is quick. Someone checks-out and within hours someone new is checking-in. We were there 2 weeks and this happened several times in the adjoining villa. We wore masks and gloves and re-cleaned everything and left doors and windows open for a few hours to get fresh air circulating. Did not have a lot of confidence the health of guests was priority tho not sure if any other hotel with villas would be any better. Location was close to where we needed to be. Grocery, pharmacy, other stores close. Did not eat out so restaurant reviews would be from a previous stay and not valid today. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Absolutely great stay at the VIllas

I came here to meet up with some friends and ended up getting the villa. Hilton hotels generally sucks but this is a gem! PROS > Villa is VERY spacious. > Bathroom and shower is great. > Room is very big > Comes with a Vizio Sound System > Has its own patio > Villa users have their own pool and spa > Staff is very friendly and helpful > Close to everything you need. > Fully equipped kitchen area > Dining Table and Full Size fridge CONS >The only con in my opinion is the gate, when I ordered food I had to drive down to open the gate since there's no way to let anyone in. Staff were very accommodating and pleasant. Our room was on the 3rd floor. Clean . the bathroom was small compared to the one we stayed at in Sedona. Location is great. Breakfast came with the room. limited selection but good selection .We received water bottles every time we asked for it from the front desk. the pool was clean and inviting. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Beware - early departure fee

Extremely disappointed in Hilton for the $250+ early departure fee we were charged when our plans changed due to a global pandemic. In the future I will stay at Marriott. Villas smell musty, but gives a good amount of space for the family. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
