Dear me .....what has happened to this place?
Jan 20th, 2020
Just returned for an overnight spa break with my wife, what a disappointment. After visiting Hoar Cross for about the last 15 years or so, and what a disappointment yesterdays visit was. When we arrived at the room, it was cold, and the bottle of wine waiting, which was promised when I booked was not there. When called reception to ask about this they said "your package did not include that". The guy on reception then advised if I could provide proof, then he would see what he could do ! The bedroom was cold, and never really became a comfortable temperature during our entire stay. The Spa was overcrowded to the point that it was claustrophobic, The evening meal in the Ballroom restaurant was such a disappointment. For years I had always rated the hotel restaurant as one of the best in the country, with a fanatic ambience, service & food. This time the experience felt more like eating in a cheap All Inclusive cafe style restaurant, with 3 lines of tables all identically laied out on tables with wouldn't have been out of place in a coffee shop courtyard (stone & wrought iron) with refectory style chairs. Service was poor and most of the staff appeared to be under 18 years old. During the evening meal the staff had completely forgotten to place the order for our main course with the kitchen staff, after waiting 40 minutes we asked where our food was to be told that they we’re sorry “but they were very busy”! Sadly, our visits to Hoar Cross have come to an end, such a shame TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Had an overnight stay booked with Secret Escapes to include Dinner, breakfast and lunch plus use of all facilities. It was excellent value and we left feeling very relaxed. The food was superb and the staff were very welcoming in all areas of the hotel and spa. Yes it was very busy and there were groups of women that were noisy and a tad inconsiderate at times for example when using the steam room etc. But there were plenty of quiet areas to escape and chill. Our room was very well appointed and comfortable, the bed and linen were great. It has been 17 years since I’ve been and it has much improved in terms of decor and style. I will definitely return soon. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
2nd visit - Just as special as last time

Having been to Hoar Cross hall 2 years ago, and loved it, I decided to take my wife again as another birthday present. We had the overnight stay like last time and I included a massage for us both. Everything was just as perfect as last time. Our room was great and we had a good night's sleep, which was much needed as our 7 month old likes to deny us any!! The spa seems to have been expanded with an extra section in the Vitality pool area, which was nice. The meals were great again. My wife being vegetarian had a good choice from the menu and claimed that she had the nicest Spinach and Ricotta Ravioli ever, so hats off to the chef. My Duo of Chicken was amazing too. Our massages were just great too. Mine was done by Sophie B and she was lovely. she really took the time to understand what I wanted and the massage was better than last time (which was hard to beat). My wife had Jasmine and was also very happy, so please pass on our commendations to both ladies. Overall, this was another amazing trip and we will no doubt be back again some day. Thank you Hoar Cross for making my wife's birthday so special. Tom and Jodi Roberts TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

It was a return visit for me and my wife. The last time we came the room we were in was OK but needed work. A year later and we were put into room 333 - a ‘luxury’ suite. The TV's didn’t work and there were stains all over the carpet. The paintwork was very scratched, and the curtains were falling off the one small window. My wife jumped into the whirlpool bath and it didn’t work. Basically, the room was atrocious and I can’t believe they put paying guests in this and it cant be doing their reputation any good whatsoever (we discussed it with others in the SPA and you can tell who has a decent room and who feels hard done by) Anyway I popped to reception and they put me and my wife into a beautifully renovated smaller room and we had a super time and I would definitely come back again as long as they guaranteed I wouldn’t be put in a non-renovated room. I can’t believe their management think its acceptable to charge a premium for the old suite rooms when the cheaper newly renovated rooms are superior in every way. It must be draining for the lovely staff having to deal with the same complaints time and time again. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Lovely spa facilities at Hoar Cross Hall. Loads of different areas to relax. Enjoyed the gym facilities and even partook in archery. The star of the show for me was the AA rosette restaurant. Delightful food! Will certainly be back. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
