Hiking trio

My son and I went hiking at Crabtree Falls and stayed one night at the Holiday Inn Express. The rooms were nice and clean, check-in was easy, parking was ample and the staff wore masks. We had a laugh over the odd, tiny balcony(see picture). The building is obviously older, but has been renovated. It’s a great location-close to shopping, restaurants and easy access to surrounding areas. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Convenient location

Yes this property is under renovations but it is not a problem. It doesn't affect the rooms and isn't noisy. The room is clean and comfortable/bathroom is also. Good coffee pods in room and also coffee in lobby. Afternoon cookies also. Our room was an adjoining room and noise from our neighbors was very loud thru the connecting door. The biggest problem was there was no parking available upon checking in. They were hosting a conference which took the entire lot. We had to find somewhere to go for over an hour till the conference was over. Would have been worse if it had been our second day and had no parking all day long. The other problem was our room was not cleaned the second day until almost 5:00. Very inconvenient TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

If you have a chance to speak with Payton at the front-desk for reservations, she is amazing!

I had the absolute privilege of speaking with Payton at the front-desk/reservations tonight - she was fantastic. Aside from a great sense of humor, she helped me out immensely; and ensured that I will be a lifelong customer of this *specific* hotel. I've stayed here once, and for the price, you can't beat it. She's not the only gem that works there - I've had positive experiences with everyone, but the phone call tonight stood out enough for me to jump onto this site ,and let people know that she will take care of you. On the Way Up

We were in town for Presidents' weekend. We had not stayed at this property in over ten years. The last time we stayed it was just average but there is a lot of positive work going on at this property. All the rooms have been recently renovated and they look great. We stayed in an Executive King Suite and it was nicely appointed with a very comfortable bed and a nice amount of space. The bathroom was also nicely appointed. My one complaint is that there is a gap under the door to the hallway and this allows every little sound in the hall to be heard in the room. The lobby area and some hallways are still undergoing renovation but should be done soon as well giving the hotel a nice new look. The staff was extremely friendly as well. Finally, price is extremely competitive compared to the other options in the area. Location, relative to the University is also great. Give this place a shot. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Renovations...always an unpleasant surprise. The young lady who handled my check in was an exemplary employee...a customer service rep extraordinaire. I had a great room, spacious, with a great bathroom. Plenty of outlets for charging electronics. Keurig, but no real cream...shelf-stable cream has been on the market so long it's hard to understand why hotels are not using it. Room was very clean. Bed very comfy. No place to sit in the lobby....I wanted to meet with friends after check-out. Lobby was non-existent except for check-in desk, and the restaurant was closed. I think booking sites should block hotels that are going through renovations that significantly impact the usual use and comfort of a property. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
