Nice hotel, terrible breakfast buffet

Aug 23rd, 2019

The hotel and rooms are nice & clean and the staff was friendly. Breakfast at the buffet is around $10/person and it was terrible! The breakfast potatoes seemed like they were just nuked (not even browned) and the oatmeal was burnt (flame was too high under the pot). I've had much better free breakfasts at Hamptons, etc. The $10 I paid was a complete rip off. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Terrible smell and poor customer service

Aug 11th, 2019

Like several others have noted, the rooms at this hotel have a very foul order. Wet dog or smelly gym socks would apear to be the scent. I politely asked to change my room and was given an apology and a new room, but the second room was no better than the first. It was very late and I just decided to roll with it given that I had an early departure. Room 2 was in a different part of the hotel than room 1 so it would appear this is a property-wide issue. My second complaint involves the restaurant. After a day of traveling I was hoping for a quick bite there. I sat at the bar, which was otherwise fairly busy, for a good 20 minutes before anyone even acknowledged I was there. I then finally asked for a menu and was told that they stopped serving at 11. I had arrived at 10:45 and it was now 11:05... so you do the math. The server was quite rude and actually laughed at me when I said, "oh no" in hearing the kitchen was closed. I knew I'd be arriving late after a day of flying and booked this hotel specifically because they had a restaurant and it was open reasonably late. There are lots of other options in the area. I definitely would not stay here again. I'm a frequent business traveler and this was near the bottom of anywhere I've ever stayed. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Decent Stay

Aug 1st, 2019

Stayed in town for a long weekend attending a football game. I booked via Expedia because the price was too good to pass up. No issues at check in. Convenient to downtown, flea market, and a nice outdoor plaza a couple minutes north. Liquor store across the road is a bonus. Smaller rooms make it cozy. Will likely stay here again. The Power of Place

Jul 30th, 2019

Everything about this place makes sense as soon as you realize that it used to be right across the parking lot from the old Denver-Stapleton airport. The out of the way location, the incredible vaulted grand lobby, the rooms arranged like some sort of a proto-motel, everything. After Denver International opened, Stapleton was shut down, and the area is being redeveloped. There is a mall right across the street, and several restaurants nearby, There is even a city bus stop right in front, so downtown is just a half hour away. The rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable, the water pressure in the shower is strong, the wifi is high speed, and the staff are friendly and courteous. What more does one need, anyway? One problem: the staircases appear to be reserved for emergencies only, and the elevator is unwieldy, especially if you are only going up one or two storeys. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Crappy Stay

Jul 27th, 2019

I stayed here one night to catch an early flight. The room was really smelly, like an animal's wet fur. Carpet was old, mattress hard and uncomfortable. I went to sleep at 9 PM since I had to get up at 2:30 am. At 10:30 PM, I was woken by sirens and alarms going off in the hotel, so I got dressed, grabbed my purse and made my way from the 6th floor down the stairwell. Alot of people were also outside and the fire dept arrived. After 10 min, they said it was clear to go back to rooms. No sign of management or staff. I just got back to sleep and the were horrific loud shots or fireworks and cars drag racing up and down the street. Very noisy. Would NOT recommend this hotel! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
