Unorganized and Smells Like Dust

Sep 11th, 2020

I am sitting in this smelly room on the first of two booked nights. I am disabled and had requested an accessible room. My husband and I walked into the room which was not accessible. They tried to put us in a different room. Same problem...same room...different room number. The manager said, "But, it has a safety bar in the tub." I became disabled in 2005 due to an accident and cannot move my leg and knee higher than a few inches. They said because the hotel is undergoing renovation, no handicapped rooms were available. My husband asked them to find another Holiday Inn in a close town that had an accessible room. Twenty minutes later, we were taken to room 221. It is accessible and acceptable to a point. We are traveling with our daughter and granddaughter who are in a different room. In order not to make the situation more difficult for them, we are choosing to remain in this dusty room tonight and tomorrow night. Yikes! The bed is fine and is quite large. The manager did try to make the situation tolerable, but we will never stay here again. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

It was pretty good overall

Sep 9th, 2020

We stopped here unexpectedly and were very happy to have this place to stay. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Our room was spotless and the view was nice. The fitness center was closed which was a huge disappointment because looking into the window, it seemed very nice. The on site bar and grill is really good. The pool becomes completely shaded rather early due to the building blocking the sun. There are 2 gas stations next to the hotel so that was convenient. The entire first floor is pretty much under construction. It didn’t bother us much, we just had to walk around further to get where we wanted to go so no big deal like constant noise or anything. The pet fee was $70, so I paid that for my 6 lb dog to sleep in the room with us. It seems that once construction is complete, this hotel will be really nice. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Not worth it!

This is the second time IHG has inconvenienced us by doing renovations in a way that is NOT customer friendly. I will be giving up on the IHG brand, since they obviously have no clue on how to update without major inconvenience. Very disappointed, since we got a phone call about the lack of boat trailer parking, but no mention of the major disruption due to construction. You have to go to the back of the building to check in, the "lobby" is a storeroom, and you have to traverse the old section to get to the elevators on the front of the building while dodging workers inside and out. The breakfast was located in an adjacent restaurant, where there were other patrons. Add that experience to the fact that many beaches and restaurants were still closed from the effects of the pandemic. Save your money for another time and place, when hopefully things will improve. I am honored to be an IHG Platinum Member which entitles me to a free night once a year. Unfortunately I chose this hotel. They were kind of enough to give me a decent view ,however, room wasn't cleaned. So everything back downstairs and back upstairs and our view has palm trees in the way. No big deal...the big deal is the room was huge and still no where to put anything. Bathroom counter held a bar of soap , toothbrush and not much more.....the fridge and microwave located outside bathroom REALLY? Toilet seat was something you see in a cheap restaurant bathroom and huge seat to sit down while you're showering, but you have to climb over this big high tub to get in there..make sense WHY BOTHER HAVING THAT FEATURE ugggh….the people above me I thought they were going to fall thru the floor the noise they made and when I walked I am sure the people below me felt the same. Oh yes whole hotel in need of a renovation. The upside was they were cleaning the elevator constantly due to Corona Virus but sure that's the only reason they were doing it. Beautiful feature of this hotel is the pool looked great unfortunately didn't have a chance to use it. Restaurant and Bar next to pool is a super plus but is not affiliated with hotel so don't bring your key and think you can use it. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
