Noisy room and attitude staff

Nov 12th, 2019

This property didn't reply guests' emails, I was trying to ask and arrange the shuttle service from the airport. Until we got another hotel helped us to call this hotel's front desk and they asked us to call them again when we have reached the airport... ok, but in that case you can also reply my email so that I can arrange a local number to contact you... During check in, elite amenity only provided upon my request. I also asked for late check out and the lady said can extended to 11:30am! I checked about the hotel information on website stating that the check out time is Noon, so my late check out request became an early check out? since it's late night I didn't bother and decided to sort it out next day. Upon arrival to the room, a ground floor room was arranged despite higher floor preference is requested. Over the mid-night, I can always hear weird sound from the upper floor. The sound proof was terrible. In the morning, we hope we catch some sleep but again outside the room is so noisy that we are unable to have a good sleep after a long haul flight from Asia. The next day, I talked to the lady about the late check out, and the lady "granted" an one-off late check out to 2:00pm and emphasizing that 11:00am is their standard check out time and normally they could only do 1:00pm for spire elite member. Ok, I thank her as I just want to sleep more next night. However, on the day of check out, we got interrupted at 12:40pm even we hang the sign of "do not disturb", the lady bangs the door and say "check out!" we explained to her that we got late check out at 2:00pm and she left without a word. It's so disrespectful to bang the door and her attitude is so rude! Anyway, I left the property 30 mins later and I swear I will never go back to this hotel. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A big letdown

Nov 8th, 2019

A great rate was the reason I picked this property. It was a bad choice for our first visit to Fairbanks. It was pretty unbelievable to find that it is actually in a huge shopping center complete with a Super Walmart, a Home Depot & a Lowe’s! Just like being back in my DC suburban neighborhood. Who would have thought that I’d find that in Fairbanks. Additionally the entire hotel had all the siding torn off it with just Tyvek insulation making up the entire exterior of the hotel. It looks like hell. The parking lot is also half roped off and there’s construction supplies and vehicles all over the place. Again, it looks awful, just like a construction site. I don’t recall any indication when booking my room of this battlefield like condition of the hotel grounds. But shame on me for not doing better research before booking. Once inside, it was pretty much a standard HIX with a decent room and bed and bathroom. And a mini fridge and microwave. And a standard HIX breakfast. And the staff was all extremely nice. But despite the comfy bed and pillows and 12+ hours of nighttime each day, it was hard to sleep in the room as the thermostat didn’t work, always showing that it was 77.5 degrees in the room whether freezing cold or stifling hot. Each night was a cycle of waking up hot and turning off the heat. Then waking up cold and turning it on again. Then repeating this cycle another few times before morning. And then there was the horrible sound insulation to the room allowing constant noise from the hallway and other rooms, including very loud maids right outside our door early every morning, kids running up and down the hall all day, crying babies in the room next door at all hours, and the stomping upstairs guy that seemed to just walk in unending circles right over our bed. The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff were really the only positive points to our stay. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A great location

Oct 30th, 2019

Tina greeted us when we arrived with a warm welcome. M’Lynn baked delicious cookies for the guests every afternoon. The ladies in the breakfast area were hardworking and helpful. The two shuttle bus drivers to the airport were friendly. The location is perfect. You are close enough to walk to McDonald’s, Wal-Mart, Barnes and Noble (which had a fireplace with chairs around it to sit and read), Old Navy, Fred Mayer (which is the same as Kroger), Firehouse Subs, and Banks Alehouse restaurant. There is some construction going on outside but there was no noise that bothered us. The rooms are big and clean. We enjoyed our stay here and would highly recommend it. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Bed bugs!

Oct 28th, 2019

Stayed here on the 11th of Oct, 2019 for my daughters swim meet. Woke up to evidence of bed bugs then we saw them! When we called the front desk they acted like we didn’t know what we were talking about! I attached pictures so you know I’m not kidding! DO NOT STAY HERE!! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Another great stay

Oct 5th, 2019

Stayed here last year and had a great stay so stayed again as we passed through town. Again we had a great stay. The room was spacious and relaxing. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was spacious. The breakfast buffet is one of the better ones I’ve encountered. Plenty of hot food and a variety of various options. All the staff were friendly. The hotel is close to Walmart and Fred Meyer and other stores and restaurants. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
