Very unsafe. Even the staff don't always wear masks.

My family stayed at this hotel on Nov. 13, 2020. It was very unsafe because the staff did not even try to enforce their mask mandate. There are some very faded photocopies of signs on the pillars as you leave the hotel, and in the elevator, but they are so faint that they are hard to read. The signs say: "a face covering over your nose and mouth is required by law." But guests walk around without masks and the desk clerks say nothing, even though they have a box of masks at the reception desk. The clerks themselves did not wear one about half the time, but had them hanging down their chin, not covering their mouth. What a shame, because the hotel is very attractive and has a great free breakfast buffet and free newspapers. But with COVID raging at its worst level since the pandemic began, I would not recommend for anyone to stay there. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Death in Family and then Snowed In

We arrived December 23rd in order to spend last moments with a dying family member. First recommendation, do not call the hotel directly for the best rate, even though they will tell you it is the best rate. The best rate is actually available online or through the third party like Priceline. Once we arrived we were able to check in. Our room was on the third floor. The room was clean. We left and went to the Bakersfield Heart Hospital, which is 5 minutes from the hotel, to visit our family member and then to Zingos Cafe next door for a late dinner. We arrived back to the hotel and nothing seemed amiss so we went to bed. Around 4:30 am my daughter and I awoke to an incessant beeping. I finally figured out it was coming from the air conditioner/heater. I called downstairs and around 5:30 am they were able to send someone up. They reset the system or something and said it happened occasionally. Everything was fine that day, the breakfast the offer is good and they put plenty out. The next night about 1:30 the beeping started again. Nothing had run weird or seemed off but here we were and the only way to make it stop was to call downstairs. It was Christmas. I called downstairs and was told that there was no one there except for the person at the desk so she couldn’t come and fix it. The only thing she could do is move my room. So at 1:45 in the morning my family started the process of moving all of our things. It was a long night of little to no sleep and no apologies or anything. In fact, when we went downstairs that morning and I turned in the other keys and was accused of roughing the thermostat and making the unit surge or overheat or whatever it did. I was not happy. There was never an apology or anything from having to move rooms in the middle of the night. The next morning we were supposed to check out but a huge blizzard had blocked the two main freeways out of town with no word on when it would reopen. We went to the front desk and requested another night, which we were granted at 2 1/2 times the rate we were currently paying. So as not to end up having to sleep in the car with our family that night we agreed. In the middle of all this, our family member passed away. The hotel itself was fine. The customer service left a lot to be desired. No one went out of their way to do anything nice. Or to even smile. Any requests were met with apathy or like we were an inconvenience. Made being away from home for the holidays tougher than it had to be. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Very good stay . No Complaints

It was just an overnight stay with a super early checkout so I could not try the breakfast. Check in was great, the hotel is now and clean. 1.5 miles from the airport so easy access. The staff member was there at the desk at 3:45am when I checked out to make the dash to the airport for 4am security screen opening for the day. No complaints at all, would stay again. Awesome friendly fast service. Kal and Amber at the front desk are very accommodating and move quickly to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Would stay here again and will recommend them in the future. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Good, clean room. Nice staff. Good location.

One night stay while driving through. Nice room, good shower, comfy bed and linens. There was a free breakfast in the morning, typical stuff. Location was nice, adjacent to the main roads. Also had a few choices for food VERY close by (Zingo's was amazing). TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
