Adequate

May 11th, 2019

This hotel was clean & rooms well appointed. However breakfast is extortion at €17.50 a head! Beds are fairly comfortable but pillows aren't great. Bathroom clean & spacious but our shower seemed to pulse from warm to scalding. Big issue was on check in the receptionist didn't take payment for our room, which I didn't think was a big deal. However she did, and rang the room 3 times asking for payment, including at 9.50pm at night, which given I'd been up since 5am went down badly. All in all it's fine as a stop off location. I'd stay here aghen(t)

May 4th, 2019

One night stop off with family on the way from Calais to the Netherlands. Handy location just off the motorway, though the circulation road around the expo centre is a but circuitous. Car parking basic but plentiful at ground level. Up the steps or ramp to reception. Unusual hotel design, a large square of rooms around a huge central atrium with the restaurant and bar. Our family room was fine, standard Holiday Inn fayre, nothing special. Good nights sleep had by all. I didnt partake in breakfast but Delores found it plentiful. We took the tram in to Ghent the next day, leaving our car at the hotel (which they were fine about). Tram is 2 mins walk away. Very handy. Note - tram ticket machines don't take cards or notes. Have plenty of Euro coins ready... Would definitely use again for similar stop over or day trip to Ghent. Chance for our Volvo to visit its birthplace... TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Rude staff poor service

Apr 22nd, 2019

Dear Thomas, Thank for your help with my request time time to time. I am really disappointed with the experience that we received with our stay at your hotel. When we checked in, no towels at all. Tried to call reception but no answer. Had to come down and then you sorted. One creamer for two people coffee. I had to come down again to reception as no one picked up call at the reception. Dirty bathroom, asked to refresh but didn't happen. Next day morning we got room knocked for check out... I mean we are staying for two nights but cleaner called for check out. Seems like no communication between booking and housekeeping. When we came back room was nice and tidy. Very refreshing. Soon we tried to switch on the light two lamps did not work. Tried to call reception but no one picked up a phone again. I let it go as there is no point of asking to sort this out with reference to cleaning of bathroom. Got a chipped glass too. Find the pictures for your reference. This hotel is nearly 3 star with hope. I tried to speak Alex at the front desk but he just ignored me. We had another trip planned in end of September but disappointingly we will look for something else better for our stay. Response from your team was poor too at the check out. We came here for a experience but with very poor service, negligence of your team and lack of hospitality made it less worth of money. Even I am still at the hotel the receptionist did not bother to ask how was your stay! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Short break on a long journey

Apr 21st, 2019

We stopped at HI Gent Expo to rest on way to Germany . Delighted to have chosen this hotel .The staff were pleasant , very warm and welcoming . The bar staff recommended the best drinks for us and didnt disappoint . Th hotel is well connected to city by a tram service .There is ample parking but payable . The breakfast spread is excellent and the kids absolutely loved it especially the waffles and pancakes . All in all cant find anything negative about the stay TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A bit tired - but ok for an overnight stay

Apr 6th, 2019

I stayed here for the night on business. The hotel is situated in what is described as “The Loop” and if approaching by road you can see the hotel, then you can’t, then you can...... Follow the signs you will eventually reach the hotel just mind you don’t end up in IKEA’s car park! There is plenty of car parking but it’s pretty expensive even for a city hotel. The room was a little tired, clean but in need of an uplift which pretty much applies to the whole hotel. The bed was comfortable and the en-suite OK. Typical HI. There is air conditioning in the room but it didn’t really reduce the temperature much. The hotel was obviously built before business travellers arrived with several electrical items which require charging. I could only find 1 available plug socket and needed to unplug a lamp to charge the second item which meant the lighting (which isn’t great to start with) quite dim. I ate in the restaurant which has a limited menu and, for me, pretty expensive for what is on offer. A main course, couple of soft drinks and coffee around 30€. Breakfast is pretty good. Wide selection of hot and cold food TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
