I came here with a few friends during the month of October. Not going to lie, I was a bit skeptical looking at previous reviews and photos of the property. Did see that they had undergone a renovation so I was hoping the rooms would reflect that. The hotel does a nice job with taking precautions during this time. They had the social distance signs, the protective barrier between the front desk and guest checking in. Staff was properly wearing mask. Their pool is currently open. You just have to reserve a time to use it. We just spent one night there so we didn’t get a chance to use the pool. The hotel is around 15 minutes from the attractions in Salem. Rooms were clean and updated. Upon check in the very nice agent gave us a paper on some changes that have been implemented due to covid. Would stay here again if I’m in Salem. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

DO NOT STAY HERE! My one night stay has turned into a frustrating, horrible experience! My boyfriend and I stayed here on the night of July 16, 2020. It was a quiet evening, as my boyfriend was on a Zoom call for a good portion of it. We relaxed a bit and when to sleep. We checked out the next morning and went on our way. A few days later, my boyfriend noticed an extra charge on his credit card. AN EXTRA $250 CHARGE! When he inquired about this, he was told that it was for a “broken bathroom door!” And we had absolutely no idea what they were talking about. We DID NOT break a door or anything else in the room! We are grown, responsible adults. I am a 60 year old woman who has traveled extensively. I have stayed in many, many hotel rooms. And never had this happen. I have never felt the need to spend time, inspecting a room upon check in. I can assure you that from now on, I will! I have never had so much as a parking ticket and now I, along with my boyfriend, am being accused of vandalism! I can assure you, it is not sitting well with either of us! We have fought this for three months. I was just told, by the property General Manager, Jahayra Santiago, that they “can’t reverse that charge” because they believe the Housekeeing Manager and not us! We are both livid! We are filing in small claims court, in hopes of recouping the money from this fraudulent claim! And really, it’s not so much the money as it is the principal! We refuse to pay for something we are NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR! And the only reason I gave one star is because the clerk at the front desk that night, was very nice and friendly. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Holiday Inn on Route 1 with hot breakfast buffet and need of maintenance

While the location of this Holiday Inn seems convenient, the fact that you cannot make a left turn on to Route 1 can make for a very frustrating experience getting there. Having said that, the room was clean and the breakfast staff were exceptional. The facilities need work (broken bath fixture and lock on pool door) and the front desk were mixed depending on whether they felt like being friendly and helpful (yes to me and not so much to my husband). The "business center" is small but adequate, although the inability to close the door results in unavoidable hallway noise pollution. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Weekend stay - here for my son's wedding

Although most of the people were very friendly and courteous, this hotel is in dire need of upgrades. The bed was super comfortable, but there was almost no hot water for our whole stay, and when we mentioned it, we were told that the maintenance man said it could not be fixed. They did offer to move us to a different room, but we were already 1 night into our 2 night stay, and were on our way out the door to attend my son's wedding, which started at 7pm. We would not have had time to switch unless we arrived late to the wedding, or did it at 1am when we returned. They should not have booked a room that did not have hot water. On top of that, the rooms do not have refrigerators, which is a pretty standard perk these days. At breakfast on Monday morning, we arrived at 10am, the attendant asked for our voucher, poured some juice, then spent the next half hour yelling at someone on his cell phone, and tearing down the breakfast things. Overall, not the best experience I had had at a Holiday Inn. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great parking, good location (7 miles from Salem and handy for Boston). Breakfast very good and friendly check in. Comfortable, clean room. Usual high Holiday Inn standards. Very handy for an overnight stop close to the road and for Salem. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
