Fantastic stay, great hosts

We stayed here due to a last minute layover in Memphis. They accommodated us right away with no issues and even offered to help us out regardless of whether we could find a flight today or tomorrow. Gwen and Cassandra were excellent at the front desk, always checking in to make sure things are great. Would highly recommend as the best holiday inn or hotel in Memphis TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Shower Injury

I fell October 27th at this hotel in the shower due to the groves on the shower floor were not up to par. I hit my head to the wall, the shower and bruised the left side of my body. I have lasting pain and injuries and they hotel is doing nothing to assist with this matter. I have tried to call this hotel to get some assistance and the General Manager Percy Swan has not called me back after 3 weeks and IHG is not able to help because this hotel is independently owned. Supposely there was an insurance claim filed however no one from their insurance company has reached out to me. This hotel has poor customer service. I keep being directed to the GM voicemail and still no return phone calls. I will no longer stay in any Holiday Inn brand hotel because of the poor customer service. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Terrible in every aspect

We arrive and it takes 10 minutes to check the man in in front of us. Another person shows up and walks right up to the desk and he is helped. Not sure why the other front desk man didn’t come out from some back room until then. I finally get my turn and was told there was no reservation for us. Then I was told we get a certain rate. Then someone else comes from the back office and says we do in fact have reservations. Whomever this woman was is the only time I heard an apology. Still the other girl at the front desk seems upset that she has to check us in. She says it’s not her fault and she doesn’t do sales. Unnecessary to know this. She takes my ID and takes 5 minutes to type everything in. Keep in mind there are 7 more rooms to check in. She checks us in for 1 night when the reservation was 2 nights. We find out from this same front desk girl that they need such detailed ID info because there has been an increase of shootings in the area. Finally, after one hour we all have rooms. I get to my room. The outlets are falling out of the wall. There was red stains smeared on the bathroom wall. There was a cobweb by the closet that had about 6 bugs in it for some lucky spider. No microwave, no fridge. Half the lights in the room didn’t work. And the internet didn’t work. So I go back to the front desk and ask if there is something wrong with the internet. The two unfriendly front desk people are already giving me dirty looks since I even asked. They said no that’s how it works. And the internet worked great in the lobby. I was in a back corner of the hotel. So the front desk man told me I can just sit in the lobby to use the internet. So I asked for a room closer to the lobby. His response was I don’t know if there is one. He starts typing and throws down a paper in front of me and this is how I realize I do have another room. Again, nothing but attitude. I get to my new room and it was definitely an improvement. Still not great but I did have a microwave that I plugged into an outlet that seemed to push right into the wall. I even had a fridge but to keep it closed I had to put something against it. I did find hair that didn’t belong to me in my bed. Others I was traveling with also had to change rooms. One had a flood in her room on the carpet. Two had no heat. And one had no hot water. I used to work for a Hilton property and was shocked at the lack of pretty much everything there. I don’t understand how it’s acceptable to run an establishment like this. I live most of my life in hotels and this hands down was the worst hotel I’ve stayed at in years. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

No problems whatsoever

I came across this place after being kind of stranded during a longer-than-expected trip to Memphis. Making a reservation was quick and painless. There seemed to be plenty of free parking though it was outside. It only took a few minutes to sign in and get settled. The room and bathroom were clean and there was a working air conditioning system and television. I requested a microwave and some batteries and there were no issues in accommodating me. It came with complimentary breakfast as well but I'm not sure what the conditions were for that. Overall great experience. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Disappointing, particulary the service.

I was disappointed by this hotel, especially after seeing on their web site that it had been renovated this year. The room was clean and spacious, the bed was comfortable, and the internet was solid. Otherwise, I was disappointed. The room had no coffee machine or trash cans (upon request, they did send one of each). The bathroom is quite small, but OK for one person. The one window was very small. Service was mediocre. It took far too long for a standard menu item to be delivered for dinner. Ditto for tea at breakfast. Tables in the dining area appeared dirty, and the staff seemed oblivious to their condition. Perhaps they were clean, but they were not set to indicate that they were clean - a table would have perhaps one set of silverware at one seat, and a glass at another seat, and a coffee mug at a third seat - such that it appeared the table had not been cleaned after the previous guest. I suspect they just remove the items they know are dirty and leave the rest. One airport shuttle driver offered no assistance in loading bags, but upon unloading was much more helpful and seemed to be highly interested in a tip, not in service. And why did the cleaning staff not realize the room had no trash cans and provide them? Was the small pile of trash I left on the counter after my first night insufficient indication of that need? I sense a poor culture issue. And if they renovated this year, why didn't they improve the windows given the airport proximity - the room was loud. This specific room appeared to have been renovated already. And why was there a wall lamp positioned such that it could not be plugged in? TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
