Absolutely Pleased

Oct 15th, 2020

I came here on business and I couldn't have had a better experience. Luckily, I chose the best suited hotel. The room was excellent, service was excellent, bed and pillows... I mean, the entire experience was amazing then to top that off, I get down to the bar for a drink and food and Jason Smith was amazing. Not only with outstanding customer service but with introducing me to new drinks and great food recommendations. Constantly attentive to the entire environment, still doing a good job and even being friendly with everyone around him. I highly recommend!!! You will not regret it! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Absolutely terrible, dirty, nasty, not safe. The view is the only thing worth the price

$500.00 to stay here Saturday and Sunday, 11th and 12th of October. Looking at the reviews, 1325 rated excellent and 52 terrible. These reviews now make me question Trip Advisor. We arrived at 3ish, allowed to check in, informed our room was not ready (check in at 4). We were hungry, given coupons for free drinks at the Hotel Restaurant, decided that, based on looking at parking, we better park and try the restaurant. The restaurant, simple and no frills, not expensive, but in no way memorable other than the view outside. Menu, pic 1 and view pic 2. Simple and effective, solid 1.5 out of 5, there is an excessive quantity of significantly better places to eat in Daytona. We got back at 4:30, to find out that it was still not ready. We waited in the lobby until about 5ish. Because of COVID, extra precautions were being taken to make sure the rooms were very clean and sanitized. (Remember this later down in my review). During this time, I climbed the hotel floor by floor looking for a luggage cart. Found one on the fifth floor by the washing machines. I bring this up because as I traveled floor by floor via the stairs, I became aware of the age and how physically unattractive this hotel was. I was starting to wonder seriously, but it was Columbus Day weekend, all the hotels were displaying “No Vacancy”, so we were stuck. Finally, with room keys in hand, we headed to our room. To be fair to the hotel, the young woman at the front desk did not charge us the $25.00 per night “Resort Fee” for the delay in getting our room. Security - I am trained in security protocol and always check things out like the locks on the room, exit points, stairs and common entry points to the hotel that “should” require keyed access. - Pic 3 is the door locking mechanism (missing screws). Pic 4 and 5 are of the privacy lock inside should the door handle and lock fail. The door was obviously forced at some point and repairs were less that satisfactory, if even noticed by the staff. I believe I could have kicked this door in easily. - The gate to parking level two directly below our room had a strong spring return assembly, which ensured the gates rapid and noisy slam and lock. Good for security but bad if you want to sleep…HAHA. The gate to parking level one had barely any return and would stay open. I was approached on morning one in the parking garage by, what appeared to be a homeless person, asking for money at 6am. He caught me totally off guard, I got in my truck and left and remembered that the gate wasn’t closed when I came down, so anybody had access to the hotel various times throughout the night…… You can put that together however you like. I will give the hotel a hard “F” here. The room - I give the view 4.5 stars out of 5. The only reason it is not a 5 is because the view overlooks the parking lot before the ocean, and that’s ok! It is what it is. Pics 6 through 11 are of the view. Cleanliness There was a plastic tub full of unwashed nasty dishes right in front of our room when we arrived.. Maybe the previous residents? Some of the room was dated, especially the couch and furniture in the Kitchenette area. The bedroom was separated and at the very back, had its own AC, nice! The floor, from entry throughout where tiled, was sticky, our shoes made that peeling sound the whole time. We decided to leave our shoes on while in the room. One night, I was up late, and without thinking, walked around barefoot getting drinks, going to the bathroom. Next morning when I took a shower, I had to get out to get my razor and these dark colored spots on the towel is what came off my feet, UGH, Pic 12. NASTY. I washed the heck outta my feet. The mirror wasn’t’ cleaned, pic 13 and there were dead bugs on the bathroom vanity, pit 14. You had to be an acrobat to get into the toilet and close the door, pic 15. If I can get the video to upload, you’ll hear me walking around with my feet sticking to the floor. “NO SMOKING” on the balcony. Yeah right. Go out there at any given time and see the smoke pluming off the hotel, especially in the a.m. hours. Sunday a.m., there was a pleasant waft of Marijuana blowing by too. A lot of this, your room AC sucks in, depending on the wind. The stay did not enhance our stay and I did not take it out on the staff, as I am sure they had enough to deal with as the hotel was sold out every night. I would get a tent and spend the night under a bridge before I stayed here again. Terrible, terrible, terrible. I will not even rate it a 1 if I didn’t have to..I have NO idea how it is so highly rated. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Donald the bartender

Oct 12th, 2020

My husband and I went to celebrate our anniversary and stopped to have a drink in the bar. Our bartender, Donald, mixed the best drinks and had amazing customer service. Thanks Donald! You are the best! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
