This ain’t your mommas Holiday Inn

Feb 14th, 2020

If you think paying over $400 for a small, smelly, dirty hotel room for your family isn’t enough, add the ambience of loud hip hop music blasting through the walls at 11:30pm, doors slamming, the smell of ‘most’ likely medical marijuana seeping through the vents, and people screaming obscenities that make even a sailor feel uncomfortable. The definite ‘Cherry On Top Of The Sundae’ would have to be the midnight discovery of a very creative pubic hair art display on the bathroom ceiling that while being so sleep deprived, slightly looked like it belonged in one of the museums you came to DC to see but are too tired to go to now.... Outdated

Feb 13th, 2020

I wrote a review the last two years that I've stayed hear and the hotel has responded that they were renovating. I'm required to stay at theis hotel for work. Again, this year I didn't see any signs of renovation happening here. The hotel shows rooms light and bright painted white but that isn't the case in the rooms I've been assigned. The rooms were dark and decorated in 70s colors of green, orange and gold. The show had mold around the old shower doors and the tub surround stained. The inside of the bathrrom door was spladdered with something. There was a dining room chair at the desk instead of a movable desk chair. The outlet on the desk lamp didn't provide the space needed for a phone charger, outlets were lacking all around. There wasn't a nightlight in the bathroom. Lack of towels, toilet paper, shampoo etc Come on it isn't hard to get it right.....just to it already! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Washington DC Visit/ Tour

Feb 11th, 2020

We took our eight year old so. To visit The White House, Capital and Smithsonian Museum. Conveniently closed to all of the above and great restaurants just a Uber ride away. The restaurant in top of the hotel is a good option as well if you choose not to venture out. Opt for breakfast plan it’s worth it! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

If you want a nice getaway, DON'T stay here.

Feb 8th, 2020

The best thing about the place is the location, the price, the balcony and the bed. When I got here, my room smelled musty. I opened the balcony door to air out the room and the was a dark stain on the patio. There were white particles on the furniture and the carpet. The bathroom hadn't been swept because there was a pill and a wrapper underneath the sink. There were no liners in the trash cans. I called down and they offered to tidy it, but I would have to wait, right? No offer of a new room, just we will send someone up. Luckily, I noticed the cleaning cart at the end of the hall. I vacuumed, my room, swept the bathroom, disinfected the sinks, toilet and shower, dusted the furniture and sprayed the room down with lavender sage room spray from the TJ Maxx in Georgetown. On my way out, I told them I cleaned it already, don't send anyone. They gave me a free breakfast. I woke up at 7 am because of construction-like sounds above my head. The channels were limited to news, infomercials, and freeform and BET The free breakfast was a buffet. I wasn't offered a menu. Evidently, you had to ask for one. The coffee was not coffee. It was coffee colored, but it didn't taste like coffee. The eggs were powdered and tasted like detergent. And you get your own water on the way in. I thought about checking out early, but I prepaid for two nights. If you stay, avoid the 16th floor room across from the elevator because it is directly below the restaurant kitchen, which is where the construction-like sounds must be coming from and the white ceiling tile particles from the vibrations in the kitchen. I want to go to the pool, but I am going to skip it. If it is anything like my room, it probably isn't well maintained. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Unexpected Parking fees

Jan 16th, 2020

Good views if you request a room higher up. The room was dated and had several wet spots on the carpet. No microwave. The in-house restaurant was closed for holidays, even though it was now the second week of January What was worst in my view was that they surprised us with $20/night parking fees (we could have enjoyed a stay at a much nicer hotel for an extra $20/night) they told us the fee was a recent update to their policy. The room description online says 'parking available' but doesn't mention the $20/night fee, although it does specify other fees, like the breakfast which is $18. We asked to cancel after we discovered the parking fees on arrival, and were told we wouldn't be refunded. So just be aware of the fees if you are considering booking. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
