Wouldn’t Recommend

Downtown Duluth is depressing. Walking the streets around the hotel we saw mostly the down and out. Smokers. Obviously a lot of drugs and meth users. Abandoned businesses. The hotel has an icky feel. Hair on the toilet seat. TV screen is small. Decor outdated. Major construction of surrounding streets. Abandoned businesses. No good local food. Rooms a bit small, though the beds and bedding were nice. Though it is a non-smoking hotel, our room smelled a bit of smoke. It was quiet in our room on the 12th floor. I would ask for a room away from construction noise. The lakefront is nearby and nice, but the nice hotels are found way up the hill near the mall. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Very Nice Downtown Property

I stayed here with my son on the last leg of our trip through the west and plains states. Check in was easy and the front desk was very informative on the amenities offered along with how the parking worked. We had a nice view of the Aerial Bridge from the 10th floor and my son enjoyed using the 24 hour gym. Masks and social distancing being practiced. Some of the cans were no microwave, no breakfast being offered, and construction noise beginning at 6;30 am so if you are a light sleeper you might not want to stay here. I think the room was on the pricey side but it appeared to be competitive with other hotels in the area. I would probably stay here again when I could enjoy all the services they have to offer after the pandemic. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Covid Clean and Wonderful Hotel

My husband and I are traveling during the time of Covid-19 thus it is important how clean and efficient a hotel is. This has been the best experience with cleanliness. The staff all wore masks, they hand sanitizers in the lobby and in each of the three elevators. The hotel also limits the elevators to two people and if more must be of the same family. We felt very safe. The suite we had was awesome. They told us it was in the older part of the hotel *Floor 10 and we chose that over the newer Executive rooms that are remodeled because we wanted two televisions. The room, although older, looked new to me. The bedroom had a king bed with flat screen and large window looking out toward Lake Superior and had a door leading into the living room, which had a table/chairs, sofa, leisure chair, coffee tables, lamps, another vanity, microwave and fridge. The furniture was nice and appeared like new. I was impressed with this chain. I stay in Marriott's normally; therefore, it's hard to compete, Holiday INN did in this respect. Did I mention the extra pillows we ordered were sitting plumped on our bed? BTW- all hotels do not clean during Covid unless it is requested. (This is normal for Covid times and all the hotels we have stayed in have implemented this rule.) Also- free covered parking. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Room not very clean, no maid service, poor elevators

I was very disappointed In my stay there on July 31 to Aug 2, 2020 —- I found a slice of lime stuck to the carpet in my room, then I stepped on a lego which was very painful, both these items were from previous guests. The floor in my bathroom needed a good cleaning, there was residue left from previous guests. And lastly, there was no maid service which I was not told about, The bed was not made, no fresh towels or coffee pods for the coffee maker, I called down to the desk and was able to at least get coffee pods for the following morning. In addition there were problems with the elevators and a lot of people were lined up waiting for over 15 minutes (my room was on the 10th floor so using the stairs wasn’t an option) I did email the hotel and asked for a rate adjustment but they refuse to respond. I expected better from a Holiday Inn - My bill for 2 nights was almost $400 :( TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Wonderful

The room view of the lake was amazing. We never turned the tv on, spent our room time with the view. I wish that Lyric Cafe had been open and The Greenery hours were better shown, otherwise WONDERFUL experience! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
