Mismanagement left us to almost sleeping out on the streets

Jul 18th, 2019

For reference: I'm not mad at the person working at the desk IF they were just a regular employee. But, if there were management of any sort, then you are doing a horrible job. I had booked the room 4 months beforehand for July 3rd - July 9th due to Anime Expo. The hotel wasn't too far from the convention, so I picked this place because it seemed to be a good middle ground between places for eating and traveling. About 1 month before my stay at the hotel, I asked for an earlier check-in time because my flight was going to get off at 10A.M. I requested 11AM; they declined. That's fine by me; I'll just check in later tonight then since my boyfriend and I won't be able to check in after 3PM, since we would be going out to places with friends. Now, before I continue, I'd like to mention something; I booked this through bookings.com. I've booked with them for many years without issues, and if there was an issue, they would alert me hours after I booked like an invalid credit card. Why is this important? Well, about 5 months when I booked back, I initially put in my debit card by accident. Sleep deprived me, right? The next day, I get an email from bookings saying it was an invalid card; no problem. I put in my credit card info, and they tell me I'm all good to go. Around 11:41AM of July 3rd, THE DAY I GET TO LOS ANGELES, I get an email from bookings.com saying the hotel declined my credit card and that I would have to type in a valid credit card or my booking would be gone within 5 hours. Huh, that's pretty strange. For the past 5 years, I've never had a problem with any hotel except now for this one. You'd think Hollywood Historic would check beforehand, you know, few weeks or days before this would happen, but no? Apparently not. They said on the website they would take discover credit cards and when I called they confirmed 5 months before that discover was fine? But not even 5 hours after, around 3:13PM, I get another email saying my hotel was cancelled. No calls, just emails. As if anyone checks their email in the middle of the day unless you're working at an office. Now, all of this springs on me when I get to the hotel around 10PM, where both my boyfriend and I have out suitcases and backpacks. The person at the desk plainly tells me that they can't honour this because their hotel is booked. It's kinda funny how the coincidentally goes in with my hotel cancellation. Sitting at their lobby trying to find a new place to stay, I found Ramada Hotel, another place which immediately accepted my credit card and said I was fine and booked for the last room. Screw you if you had overbooked. If we had not gotten another hotel, my boyfriend and I would have been sleeping on the streets. Don't book this place on a busy holiday. Who knows, they might overbook and have done this to you. And by the way, if you want to reiterate to me that check-in time is at 2PM ( looking at you person at the frontdesk who INSISTED check in time is at 2PM ); maybe you should change it on your website? Because, wow, unless somehow that person has NEVER looked at the website, the check-in time below services says 3PM. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Interesting old hotel in Hollywood.

Jun 5th, 2019

My husband and I wanted to visit Los Angeles without driving there! Took the train to Union Station and a short Lyft ride to Hollywood Historic Hotel. A very cool looking building and the inside is well kept and interesting. Very small rooms but met our needs just fine as we didn't spend much time in our room. It was clean, the a/c worked fine and we had a coffee pot & fridge. Our view was of the "Hollywood sign"! Lots of food and drink places nearby. Enjoyed our location and our 3-day stay very much. Clean Budget Hotel

May 25th, 2019

Good value for your money. Room, bed and pillows were comfortable and there was a mini fridge in the room. Front Desk person was very attentive and kudos to housekeeping… old rooms, but clean… We used Uber to go to Universal Studios and Chinese Theatre. Pretty inexpensive, so the hotel is not that far from main attractions. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Way over-priced, had to pay $18 to park despite being a CUSTOMER who already paid $150 for a small room.

May 21st, 2019

Room was small and had no microwave. The area was dumpy and there was really nothing great about the hotel to make this worth $150 a night. There were some pictures of actors on the walls in the hallways. Wow. But what really killed this for me was the charge for parking. There were plenty of spaces and we were paying customers. Customers who payed to stay at your hotel should be allowed to park in your parking lot without extra fees. Period. I've never stayed in a hotel where I had to pay extra to park. In fact, literally the day before we stayed here, we checked out of another hotel (Hotel 414 - which is great by the way), and they let us park there AFTER check out for FREE, while we spent the day at Disneyland. Tip: Don't stay at any hotel that is "old" or "historic" - it will be an outdated dump with an inflated price tag because of it's "old world charm" or whatever. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Rip - off

I had to cancel a reservation due to an illness, and this heartless corporation wouldn't allow me to reschedule my reservation to another time, they penalized me a whole days stay. Close to $200 dollars. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
