Not a Hilton Standard Hotel

Aug 4th, 2020

There are so many wrong in this hotel. Stayed here for 4 nights (Checked in July 29 around 10am) Mostly of our family worked in a hotel business so we now how hotel industry works and always have to be professional no matter what the situations are. First, we called the hotel for late check-in and Guest Service Operator was so unprofessional. Like she didn’t like her job or not wanting to work that night. When we were checking in, no “Hi or Hello” just plain “Checking in?” It was a very long day driving from Kentucky to Texas, all we needed was a warm welcome and a nice room to stay. Didn’t explain about parking or breakfast. We have to asked about it and we found out not serving hot food and we got an apple and water. We didn’t attempt to go and get it anymore and just went and have breakfast outside of the hotel. The Guest Service agent (Bryan is the name of I’m not mistaken) on the next early morning was very professional when we called down about the issues in our room and very apologetic about it. We just saw him one time though. Wished he was working during our entire stay so al least it could have made up all the negatives issues during our stay. Other agents during our stay was very unprofessional. Didn’t get there names cause didn’t wanna deal with them anymore. Just check who worked from the night of July 29 around 8pm until August 2nd and you know who they are. (This is for the hotel management) Second, we found an underwear boxer shoved in under the sink. Housekeeping came and removed it but didn’t even bother to asked if we wanted to have the room or at least the bathroom clean. I don’t think this room was clean properly cause we found used coffee pods went we tried to make coffee on the next day of our stay and that’s nasty. Third, the tiles corner of the toilet was cracked. That didn’t bother us but it was out in the open and you won’t miss it (stayed in room 1016). The shower water pressure was very low but the maintenance guy was very nice and quick to fixed it. Fourth, TV cable sucks, it’s just basic. All you can watch was news and sports. No movie choices like other hotel does. I mean this is Home2 Suite by Hilton hotel, there should be at least more choices in TV cables you would think. But nope. Luckily we had our iPads and Laptop with us. We watched Netflix on them. Fifth, Valet parking was so expensive $35+ Per night. And it take so long to wait for the car. So we parked at the public parking area which is only $10-20 a night. Something we found out though, we thought the hotel has their own secured parking area like other hotels like underground or parking garage area but they don’t cause we saw one of the Valet agent running to get guest car in the parking area were we parked in one of our stay. This is a ripped off. So if anyone planning to stay in this hotel, you must as well park it yourself, you will save at least $15-20 a night for parking. Last but not the least, we didn’t see anyone in the lobby or hallway cleaning or sanitizing that hotel since we have COVID-19 pandemic going on. We will never stay in this hotel again if we ever come back to San Antonio, Texas. This hotel didn’t meet the Hilton property standard. The only positive about this hotel was it was close to Riverwalk and there some near food area that you can walk to and they have a good mall to walk around and shop. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Avoid even if the rate is good.

Aug 2nd, 2020

First room they put us in had a piece of plywood in the broken window, food crumbs on the table, and the A/C didn't work. The next room the carpet was so nasty my socks turned black from walking on it. So much for the deep cleaning hotels are supposed to be doing to stop the spread of virus. We had reservations for a week spent one night and checked out and went to another hotel. The only place you can load and unload your car is in the street. You have to park in another building across the street. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Not COVID sanitation standard

Jul 27th, 2020

Just checked in this afternoon and found a egg crusted spatula in the kitchen drawer. This does not instill confidence that this room was thoroughly sanitized before it was made available to a guest. Couch in the room was also stained. Especially during this time of the pandemic, a hotel should pay particular attention to its cleanliness. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Good location off the Riverwalk

Jul 25th, 2020

When we booked this hotel we thought it was on the Riverwalk. Turned out it was about a block and a half from the Riverwalk, but that was fine. That saved a little money on the price and it was close enough to easily walk to. We stayed during COVID so I can't comment on the breakfast, but the room was nice, with a kitchen and probably the most comfortable hotel bed we've ever had. My wife and I agreed the sheets were the softest sheets we've ever felt in a hotel room. Not the fanciest hotel, but for the price I would stay there again. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
