Great hotel and perfect location!

The last reviews posted for this hotel are really bad, but we had a very different positive experience during our 7 day stay. First, of all, the hotel is following all COVID regulations - social distancing and masks must be worn at all times in public areas. The front desk staff was following this policy. The rooms were clean and had the "Hilton seal" on the doors and remotes. Yes, the rooms are a bit outdated, the furniture and cabinets could be newer, but we picked this hotel because it had 2 bedroom suites with 2 bathrooms which are almost impossible to find anywhere. We were there to visit with our son from LSU so we didn't care that the furniture was outdated. The most important thing was that everything was clean and the beds were comfortable. Connie from the front desk was amazing. She found our missing Amazon package and even had to call an employee on his off day to see if he had seen it. She called our room right away once she found it. There was no room cleaning service, but that is understandable because of COVID, but every couple of days, we put our dirty towels outside of our room and they were picked up by staff. We were able to get fresh towels and any other supplies from the front desk at any time. Just be aware that the rooms do not have a toaster. Every day we could pick up our bagged breakfast which consisted of a water bottle, an apple, a muffin and a cereal bar. The best part of this hotel was that we could walk to Jason's Deli and the Broken Egg Cafe to pick up breakfast/lunch and those 2 places were excellent! They had outdoor seating as well as indoor seating and were following COVID protocols. There was also an ice cream shop in that shopping center that you could walk to. The restaurant called Mansurs on the Bouleavard right next door had take out (and dine in) and the food was delicious. We were about 10 minutes from LSU via I-10, 5 minutes from Webb Golf Course where we were able to play golf, easy drive to Baton Rouge zoo, the Downtown area, theGovernor's mansion, etc. so there were lots of outdoor things to do and they were all within a short distance from this hotel. The "North Boulevard Town Square" just 3 minutes away by car had lots of restaurants and shops and a Whole Foods. So, really, the location was perfect and the 2 bedrooms and 2 baths were a plus. Since we were worried about COVID, we brought our own cleaning supplies and cleaned everything again ourselves just to be safe. We also brought our own sheets and pillows and lots of extra sheets that we put over the furniture. Entrance to the hotel was with room key only so it felt very safe as well. Absolutely nothing wrong with this hotel! Only positive things to say! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Avoid this hotel (and I'm normally a Homewood Suites fan!)

We normally try to stay at Homewood Suites because they are one of the only hotels that have 2 bed/2 bath suites which accommodate our family of 5. And usually they are great. This hotel was NOT. Here is why: 1) Location. The hotel is on the edge of what I'd consider a safe neighborhood. We had dinner down the street to the east (at Newk's) and that seemed like a nice, quiet area. However, we had to get gas and the closest was to the west of the hotel. BIG MISTAKE. There were several trucks with crazy lift kits, blaring music, and neon rims cruising College Drive. A lot of people congregating in groups along the road, loitering. There were at least 3 different cop cars with lights flashing stopped along the way, only one was for a fender bender. We did go get gas, and almost got clipped by a crazy driver pulling through the gas station at high speed for unknown reasons. We did not feel safe at all. 2) The hotel is not clean. We had to scrub our room down when we got there. 3) Very loud guests. Not sure who was staying in this hotel, but above us there was a party going, and on one side of us the people had music blaring until past midnight. In the morning outside our room, I noticed a lot of white spots on the carpet and when I looked closer, I realized it was the popcorn that had been knocked off the ceiling. Wonder what was going on in the hall?? 4) Disrepair. The air conditioner vent in our living area had a very loud, constant rattling sound. The ceiling fan in one of the bedrooms was unusable because it was uneven. There was a loud swooshing sound in the bathroom at unexplained, random times...not sure what that was. 5) Breakfast during COVID was....NOTHING. No small boxes of cereal, no individual yogurt containers, nothing. We stayed at 4 different hotels on this same trip and all of them made some attempt at least. Overall, extremely disappointed in the stay. Literally the worst hotel we've been to in years. Needs a complete overhaul. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

This hotel needs to be shut down because it is a health hazard and the manager needs to be fired immediately. I have stayed at numerous Homewood Suites around the Country and this is the worst Homewood Suites that I have been to and the worst experience that I had to endure including my family. The room was filthy, pull out bed had pacifiers and dirt on the sheets, bathroom had hair on the tub and a dirt ring around the tub. I called the front desk, I told them the condition of the room and he said he would move us to another room. After I was assigned another room, that room was dirty and the sheets were dirty. The man at the front desk said that he would find a room that had clean sheets and bring them to us. He brought clean sheets to my room and I requested a late check out due to us having to move out of our room at 11:00 pm and we were tired and our young kids were exhausted from being at the baseball park all day. At 11:17 am we receive a call from the manager on duty stating that we need to be out of the room or she would charge us for a half a day. My husband went downstair to talk to the manager concerning our late check and because we had to move room at almost midnight. She rudely told him that she did not have a request for a late check out and it was a holdiay and the maid had 12 rooms to clean. We told her we would be out of the room by 12:00pm. The manager came to our room at 11:37 a.m. and asked us why we were still in the room and she would be charging us for a half day. We told her we would call corporate on her she say do what you have to do. At 11:58 a.m. we walked out of our room and the manager was standing next to our room . We did not see anyone from housekeeping on our floor as she stated that housekeeping had 12 rooms to clean. We will never stay at this hotel ever again because of the unsanitaries condition especially during this time and also the rude and unprofessional manager. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

The location is awesome. Close to shopping, restaurants, etc. but the hotel was not great. Can't believe it is rated a five which is why I chose to stay here. We were shown to our room and had to request another room as the fan in the bedroom had a missing blade and made a loud noise when turned on. The closed door was off the track and propped up in the closet. We were shown another room which is a nice but it was not clean. We had to almost clean the entire suite ourselves as you only get one cleaning a week. The seal on the refrigerator was broken so had to keep a chair next to the door to keep it closed. Reported it and was told they would fix it when we leave. We were there for a week with a chair in the kitchen. The common areas were not clean and with COVID going on you would think they would be keeping those areas clean. A friend stayed down the hall and her icemaker was not working and there are no ice machines. Obviously, they have a problem with getting repairs done. You can tell this was once a nice hotel but has gone downhill. Took the Hilton hotel survey but have heard nothing back from them so why send out a survey? TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Flying into Baton Rouge and arrived early (second time at this hotel) and call hotel to see if I could get in early being a diamond member for many years. Front desk person said not possible because of the virus and room not ready. Really? Completed early check in yesterday and hotel should have it done before 3PM. Did ask if I could get in earlier but no way. Have to sit in parking lot for 3 hours waiting. Previous trip was no problem just when all of this started. No notice about no food, pulling teeth to get extra coffee since they will not have any and put your trash out. Since I travel quite a bit, this will be my last time at this hotel.
