Good location and Comfortable Stay

Aug 2nd, 2020

I chose this hotel because it had an EV charger for my car onsite. The hotel was clean throughout and was taking all appropriate COVID 19 prevention steps. The staff seemed to be obsessively cleaning public areas throughout my stay, which was appreciated. The room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom is recently renovated and very nice. Some of the other areas are starting to show their age, but everything was functional. The hotel is tucked one block away from the main commercial area which made it very quiet but very close to any amenities we needed. Unlike some of the other Homewoods I have stayed at, the kitchen was properly stocked with dishes, silverware and cookware. I would stay again on my next trip to the area. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Pig Sty!

Jul 13th, 2020

Room product is warn out and dilapidated. Spider mites floating down off the ceiling. Fire / smoke alarm falling off the ceiling. Garbage bags piled at the unit entrance for a day and a half. I don't believe the cleaning seal of approval on the door to our room really meant anything. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great place to refresh, renew and reflect!

Jul 9th, 2020

Stayed 7 days surrounding the hot & humid 4th of July weekend. With all of the media/medical attention focused on COVID-19, I needed a place to finish recovering from a severe bout of "sinusitus" and all of the "bad" news in the world! Not only was the Homewood Suites Schaumburg a great "retreat", it was also a treat to stay at. From Mary & Nathan at the front desk, the laundry & housekeeping staff- all the way to the GM, Chris Huber (who seemed to be always present throughout the hotel), the customer service and professional were bar none. The property itself was pristine and I truly felt safe and well cared for. I look forward to visiting again soon! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Noisy, poorly maintained, uncomfortable

Jun 30th, 2020

My family of 5 stayed here last night. We do not fit into a standard hotel room, so we always have to book a suite. Embassy Suites was not taking bookings due to Covid, so we went with Homewood. This was probably the worst hotel experience we’ve had. The soundproofing is horrible. Every time the door closed across the hall, our door rattled. We were given a room near the pool and basketball court. People were playing basketball until 1:30 A.M. or later, and someone was back out there at 6:00 A.M. we heard every bounce of the ball. There were kids in the pool making a lot of noise at 8:00 A.M. The room is shabby. The furniture is stained and uncomfortable. The beds are very uncomfortable. Everything in the room needs to be updated. The only good thing was the shower. It had great water pressure. The policy to wear masks is a joke. I was in the lobby checking in, and a woman and her daughter were in front of me with no masks, and the kid was sneezing all over the place without covering her mouth. Yeah, kids are kids, but that’s why the mask policy exists. What a shame your policy isn’t enforced. When walking down the narrow hallway to our room, we passed quite a few people none of whom had masks on. Anyone who is nervous about Covid-19 should NOT stay at this hotel. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Very nice place to stay

Jun 25th, 2020

I have completed my second stay at this location, and I believe it is a very nice place to stay. There are three buildings in an apartment type of setup. I actually like this setup because it makes things feel more spread out and gives you a feeling of having extra space. I stayed in Building A on the second floor my first stay and stayed in Building C on the second floor my second stay. I thought the property was fairly quiet most of the time, which is important to me. I am a diamond member, so I have stayed in Hilton properties many times. There were some things that can be improved. I went to the front desk to get keys to my room on my first stay and the employee working the desk was busy on their smartphone and had their mask pulled down to their chin when I saw them (which defeats the purpose of having the sign on the lobby door stating that masks are required in the lobby area). I stood there for 15-20 seconds before they looked up and noticed that I was standing there waiting for service. They did not ask me how many keys I wanted (I always get two, since there are two people staying in one room) and only gave me one key. I have the digital key on my phone, so I can get away with one key to give to my fiance, although I prefer a physical key in case something goes wrong with the app. The employee did not ask for my ID before giving me the key to the room, which is a potential breach of security. I was also not offered two bottles of water like I always get for being a diamond member, so it seemed to me that this employee was not focused on giving correct customer service. My second stay was better than my first stay. I was recognized by the front desk agent for being a diamond member and given two bottles of water without having to ask for it. I was asked for my ID before keys were made and was given two keys this time. The agent also was wearing a mask correctly. The suites were clean and sealed by a tamper-evident seal to show that nobody has entered the room since it was cleaned. There was a large amount of debris outside under the stairs that needed to be swept up. I noticed that most of the dishes were placed in the dishwasher (probably regardless of being clean or not) and the cycle was run prior to me checking-in. I noticed that there was a light on the front of the dishwasher that showed that the cycle was complete and the dishes were clean. The light goes off after you open the dishwasher, so that is an effective way of ensuring that the dishes are sanitized and nobody has touched them since the cycle was run. The Wi-Fi is not very good at this location and is probably my biggest complaint. Both times I stayed here, I had a suite facing the street, so it seems that the transmitters for the Wi-Fi are on the side not facing the street. The bedroom is close to the window facing the street and the dining table is close to the back of the unit. Every time I used the Wi-Fi at the dining table, the signal was good, and every time I used it in the bedroom, my devices were having issues connecting as well as staying connected. Luckily, I can use my smartphone data to connect my tablet when I am in the bedroom, although I am sure many people do not have that capability. Overall, I thought this property was very homely. I recommend it for being quiet and spacious. The internet connection needs improvement and the service needs to be more consistent, but I would definitely come back again. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
