Hotel from Hell

This was the worst hotel I ever stayed in--noisy, dangerous, and rude. The room was not ready at check-in time and we had to wait two hours for it. Once in the room there was a loud thumping on the ceiling from the room above us for about half an hour, followed by a long period of a vacuum noise. The front desk would not answer the phone when I called to complain so I decided to go there in person. In the hallway of the hotel I was confronted by someone who looked like a homeless person who threatened to kill me. When I reached the lobby there was another hotel guest there complaining about the noise, and she told me that the hotel was full of displaced people. Hotel clerk refused to help so I returned to my room and tried to sleep until a noise like bongo drums started in the room above us. I called the front desk to ask for full refund but she refused. She said "It's a hotel you have to expect noise." We packed and left the hotel near midnight. As we sat in our car deciding where to go police cars rolled up to the front entrance of the hotel. I have stayed in hotels all over the world and this was the worst hotel experience ever. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

hotel tries, but clientele right now is questionable with COVID issues

Hotel was okay - they're doing what they can in the middle of this COVID mess. Hotel staff is wearing masks and its posted all over the place to wear masks, etc. Hotel has a bagged breakfast, which is an apple, a granola bar and a muffin. Right now this property is quite full, lots of people related to the fires across Oregon staying here, displaced people, some contractors, etc. Not the normal clientele you'd see. Amongst this group beliefs in COVID vary (you know, like the President calling it a hoax), so you will see folks walking around without masks, which does irritate me, and I confronted some of them about it. But they don't care about anyone but themselves; further, many leave their cigarette butts lying around, etc. It's ridiculous really to allow these folks to stay when they openly violate the rules - but that's easier said than done. Like I said, a different clientele. And I think the hotel tries, but they're not going to eject someone who is spending good money here for an extended period. I'd return to the hotel again, but I probably would not do so until COVID is over or the clientele changes over. Being a long term stay hotel with the kitchens it's really the best option right now for many displaced. If I was in town again I'd probably consider the Hilton Garden Inn next door or one of the other newer hotels in town because the mix of customers is going to be different right now. If this is normal times I'd give the hotel a 4 or maybe 5 - they're doing what they can. In a perfect world they'd evict these fools. I can say if Hilton does not hold some of their guests accountable, in time, it will drive the regular clientele elsewhere. It's hard to do, certainly. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Poor visit- connecting room really noisy- dirty dishes left as clean

Room a good size but many issues. Fridge sounded like a washer on spin cycle. A plate in the cupboard was still dirty as were the cutlery. Phone line in the front room not connected. Drapes in bedroom fall down when you pull the black out curtains. Elevator broken so you had to either walk miles or walk up with luggage three floors. Gym open and appeared to have no COVid cleaning procedure- just a bottle of sanitizer... Also same reason of COVid given for a breakfast bag of a granola bar, muffin made months ago and a piece of fruit. Stayed at doubletree the night before where a full breakfast could be picked up and taken to your room! Just be honest and say you are just cost cutting and do not care about your customers. Breakfast available to go from over 6 restaurants and multiple fast food joints within a few blocks. Decor and layout typical homewood- nothing original but satisfactory. Definitely getting dated TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

RESPITE

Considered this accommodation as a place to stay after a tragic wildfire. What is anticipating a delightful stay but found quite the contrary. As the pictures show we found the room to be unclean and somewhat disgusting. Although we realized the restrictions because of covid 19 we felt the room should have been in much better condition before we even arrived. Stains on the floor mold in the bathtub all around dust especially in the bathroom in top of the refrigerator. Expecting the room to be clean is not an exception when you pay the price that is charged but when you find Goldfish crackers left by the previous residents by the bed becomes very disgusting. This went along with the popcorn and the nuts behind the chair. Would we recommend staying here? Only if you could inspect the room first. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

well located hotel in which to stay

We reserved a room at this hotel for two nights as we were seeing family in the area before going on to K. Falls, and we were delighted to find there was a good size fridge and freezer for the food we had in our cooler! The room was great, and we had no problems with anything during our stay. We were very careful due to Covid, but felt the room was clean for us. Saw the review stating cigarette smell was bad, but we sure didn't smell or see evidence of that during these two nights. Breakfast was a bagged affair with juice, a muffin, fruit, etc. which we took back to our room to eat due to the Covid restrictions. No problems with our stay, and the staff were great!
