Huge disappointment

Aug 23rd, 2020

Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights and primarily chose Homewoodsuites because we are used to the cleanliness and service being top notch. At the website it also mentions: -Hilton CleanStay Room Seal to indicate that guest rooms haven’t been accessed since they were cleaned -Extra disinfection of top 10 high touch areas in guest rooms including light switches and door handles Unfortunately, that was not what we registered at all. It is disappointing to enter a room where it looks as it has not been thoroughly cleaned for a long period of time. And without a Room Seal tag. 1) There were crumbs in the sofa bed, as well as a disappeared TV remote 2) Mirrors and TV are wiped off with a dirty cloth = stripes 3) There is dust on the foot panels in the bathroom 4) Cutlery and plates in the dishwasher was not clean 5) The fridge was not cleaned 6) There was a leftover deodorant from previous guests behind the bookcase in the bedroom I could continue .. Apparently there has been a cut on staff, leaving the receptionist/the front desk personel to be in charge of evening reception, check in , phones and emptying rubbish bins all at once. Which means that nothing is done satisfactorily. During our stay there were no cleaning in the pool area despite the fact that it was used extensively by many different guests. It is not impossible that we will stay here again as we still believe in the Homewood concept and hope that this was an isolated case. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great Hotel, Excellent Staff, Good Location

Aug 8th, 2020

We had been in San Diego to have a break from working at home the last few months, we did have an Airbnb, but the wifi was terrible at the place we rented and we were still working. So I selected this Homewood Suites to move to which was affordable and had a kitchen. Happy to report it was an excellent choice. The staff here was amazing! They are doing a great job during these COVID times, following all the guidelines. The room was comfortable and clean and worked great for our week we stayed. The whole time we were there the staff was so lovely and welcoming and so helpful, so thanks to them for working so hard right now. The location was perfect to get anywhere in San Diego. We would definitely stay here again. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Comfortable and Homey.

Mar 2nd, 2020

We have stayed at this Homewood Suites two other times. We keep returning because it is well run, comfortable, and inviting. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, cozy and clean! All of the staff are extremely accommodating. During this stay we needed a room change after our first night. Grant, one of the front desk managers, went over and above to help remedy our problem. We were relocated to a perfect room. We greatly appreciated Grant’s help in resolving our problem. The dining area is like that of a nice restaurant. The breakfasts are handy and offer the standard fare along with waffles. The evening Social hour is a great bonus. Each evening has a different offering, such as pasta, soup, chili, etc., along with wine or beer. Several nights we just called it dinner ( a real money saver). The laundry facilities were great also. All in all a great place near many tourist areas. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great stay

Great location (near a Target) and friendly staff. We had a wonderful time here with our family. The room met our needs with two young children. Close to San Diego's tourist draws without being on top of them. Will stay again! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Lovely Stay During a Difficult Time

Feb 20th, 2020

I stayed at this property with my children, mother-in-law and two aunts. We were in town for my father-in-law's final internment. Although this was a sad occasion, the stay was quite lovely. Rachel texted me before I even left Nebraska to check if we needed anything and to give a general introduction. We even discussed the fact that my reserved room types were not available, but they accomodated us just fine. This was excellent customer service and she didn't know at that point that we were there for a funeral. Upon arrival, she was equally friendly and helpful. Our reservation took a little effort on her part to work out as we only needed one room for one night, but my mother-in-law and aunts were staying an additional night. She made sure to make it where they didn't have to check out and then check back in, although there was a separate reservation. She also ensured the cards were coded for both nights. It was at that point I explained I appreciated her patience and helpfulness as I wanted to make things as stress-free as possible for my mother-in-law since we were there for a funeral. The hotel itself is beautiful, and I wish we had more time to enjoy the property. The lobby was inviting and evening reception was starting at our arrival. I love this added perk with a nice light dinner selection. Breakfast lacked a little variety, but was fine. The attendants at both reception and breakfast were very friendly. We had 2 two-bed suites, right next to one another. I appreciate Rachel working that out for us. The room was spacious with nice decor. The beds were comfortable, and my daughter confirmed the sleeper sofa was comfortable as well. The bathrooms were nice, but not a fan of the sliding door. My aunt got stuck in their bathroom and it took two of us to open the door. My family was excited there is a Benihana in the parking lot and it gave another food option, albeit expensive compared to the nice FREE reception at the hotel. The best part of our stay was definitely the wonderful personalities of the staff! They went out of their way to be friendly and welcoming to us. I did not encounter one person who didn't give a genuine smile and small talk. People really can make a difference in an experience at a property and I appreciate their efforts during our difficult time. Thank you! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
