Absolutely gorgeous hotel, fantastic staff, unfortunately in a less than salubrious area

Jul 16th, 2019

The title of my review (and the accompanying four stars) seems, in retrospect, somewhat unkind given that the hotel, the comfort of the room and the most helpful and some of the most solicitous staff I have ever encountered made my stay a pleasure. Additionally, I had to truncate my 3-day visit by a day in order to rush back to London on business and I was not charged for the third night - a very welcome surprise. However, this is a website that depends upon constructive criticism so here we go. The buffet breakfast that we could (and did) enjoy on the terrace was a delight (we had a small schnauzer in tow) but whilst dinner in the beautiful gardens was a pleasure, the quality of the food did not QUITE match the pricing. An example, as I am a stickler for detail; the penne al pesto rosso con rucula y parmesano - nice enough (certainly plenty of parmesano so not lacking in taste), but somewhat overcooked (certainly not al dente), and not worth anything approaching 14 Euros (my local Italian deli in SW11 - London, Battersea - would charge 5 quid for something infinitely better). And so to the "environs" or area. I do not know, and have not researched the history of the hotel, but it is clear that a number of fairly low-rent apartment blocks were erected nearby (an understatement), some of which are now blighted with graffiti, and the lower levels of which are home to some restaurants with...let's be honest...outrageously ambitious pricing given their offering and ambience, simply because of their proximity to the hotel. Avoid at all costs. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Second stay in Hospes hotel - second GREAT stay

Jul 15th, 2019

Earlier in the month we stayed at Hospes hotel in Salamanca - yesterday we left Hospes hotel Palaciao de los Patos - it was a great stay! Location is super - an oasis close to the commercial center of Granada. Most of monuments and musea in walking distance - main shopping area just around the corner. Alhambra is 10 minutes by taxi away. Hotel has own parking - and valet parking service is great! Check-in was efficient and with care and a smile. Since we were a party of 3 adults we were granted an upgrade to a suite - which is a truly amazing room. Lots of character and space. The interior has a modern touch in an ancient building - a very nice combination. Room was well equipped - shower offers a lot of space - bed is very large and tall - and offers great sleep quality. Only missing piece in room is a Nespresso coffee machine. Breakfast was truly excellent - large choice and very fresh ingredients. Service at breakfast efficient but a smile in the morning would be great :) Worthwhile mentioning is the pool - not truly a swimming pool but rather a XXL jacuzzi (can handle more than 10 pax) in a nice spa-like environment. No daylight but great place to relax after a long and hot walk in the Alhambra. We had dinner one night in the restaurant which was super - recommended to make advanced booking since we had last table available on a sunday evening. Check out was also efficient and with warm smile. Overall a great stay - very consistent with Hospes experience in Salamanca - can only recommend staying in Hospes hotels. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Most Enjoyable!

Jul 12th, 2019

We stayed at Los Patos for 3 nights. We had a suite in the new section. Very nice - if I return I will definitely stay in the older section. I would have liked to understand the difference when making my booking. As my understanding from the Hospes web site is that they are converted old houses - luxury, boutique style hotels. I managed to pop my head into one of the rooms on the palace side - that was more my expectation and what we were looking for on our trip. However - the room was great! Big - very pleasant! Internet was very poor - despite all the efforts to fix it! One thing that I would definitely comment on - now that I have stayed at 5 Hospes hotels on this trip - their service is spectacular- the hotels are located in the best parts of the town. The only issues have been small things - air conditioning- internet - small maintenance issues (which really for 5 star luxury boutique hotels - should not be an issue and which detract from how good the actual hotel is). Sightseeing in Granada

Jul 11th, 2019

We recently stayed at the hotel for a second time. I cannot recommend it highly enough. Service and staff were superb. Michelle in the garden bar was particularly good and helpful as were all the staff. We drove to the Hotel and as we arrived outside we were met by two members of staff who took our cases and parked our car. Check in was quick and easy. Our room was in the newer part of the building with modern decor and was really good. Breakfast was excellent and we particularly liked the garden terrace and bar area which was a great place to relax and chill. It’s a fantastic hotel in an amazing building. I can highly recommend it to you. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Outstanding Hotel

Jul 8th, 2019

Really a combination of two hotels. A historical old Mansion turned into a great hotel, and a new, cool, addition built on the grounds of the old stables. A fantastic staff, kind and generous with their time and very knowlegable of their great city. Very service oriented, kind of a throwback to an earlier age. The restuarant outside the new addition was a little loud, but it never kept us awake!! They take your rental car and park it themselves, which is a little disconcerting to a degree, but it all worked out. I mention it only as a heads up. A great stay!!!!! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
