this place really felt like a 6 star hotel. although our visit to granada was marred by a farmer's strike that blocked out transport into the city, forcing our family to walk over a mile with our luggage, hotel made everything better, almost. we did miss out window to enter Alhambra.(nothing can make it up for that). what the hotel did was upgrade our suite to a presidential suite. we felt like a family of corrupt dictator when the farmers strike continued on the main street outside the hotel. This suite was the best hotel suite we have ever been to. it had a painted ceiling and a balcony that was bigger than most hotel rooms. It was like sleeping in one of the rooms in versailles. We booked a junior suite in the old building and whilst visually it was an impressive room with lots of character and a nice bathroom, in practical terms, it wasn’t very good. For a junior suite it’s poorly equipped eg no coffee table to put your drinks on, no socket for the kettle and no plug for the sink. To be fair to the hotel the staff provided a table and plug when I raised these issues with them – so full marks to them for their response but it shouldn’t be like that. Trying to work out how to turn off the lights at night was another irritation and a large part of the outside space was closed off for work which we should have told about before arriving. The hotel is centrally located which is handy for shops, restaurants & sights but like any city it’s noisy and we needed ear plugs to sleep. On the positive side the staff are very nice, it’s well located and breakfast was good on quality although it lacked the choice you’d expect in a 5* hotel. Doubt we would use if visiting Granada again. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Everything about our stay in this hotel was wonderful. The staff were helpful and courteous at all times. We received a free room upgrade on arrival and we stayed in the old part of the hotel and the room was stunning. The room was clean and impeccable. Staying at this hotel really made our short trip to Granada memorable I would highly recommend it. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Stayed at the old library of this heritage house. Beautiful old ceiling and panelling with a thoroughly modern bathroom and heating. Good service plus the hot pool and good breakfast made for a comfortable stay TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Really liked this hotel... many great things but some opportunities. Here is an unbiased review Pros: Location: very close to many shops and restaurants. It’s a direct 15 minute walk to the main historical attractions. Nicely placed just outside of the hustle and bustle of the tourist area, so you avoided the noise and crowds but had immediate access. Design: the look and decor is beautiful and feels very stately. The hotel has two buildings, the original (which is the check in and some rooms ) and the new (which is the restaurant and more rooms). There is an odd contrast between the two as the new building is very modern and lacks the old world grandiose charm. Nevertheless, both are nice. But be aware you may have to cross outside between the two buildings. Rooms: very spacious with large bed. The bathroom is a little odd in design but has a wonderful rain shower. Oddly there is a useless bathtub (see other reviews) inside the shower... not sure who thought of that? There is a couch and seating area as well. Very open design. Parking: this was included for free, which was an unexpected perk :) Neutral Service- just ok. Not amazing like I would expect from a 5 star hotel, but not horrible. The bar staff were incredibly friendly and probably offered the best experience. Check in was slightly welcoming. Check out was poor- no offer to take the bags out, assess our experience, etc. Cons Keys- there is no card entry to the rooms. Instead you have to carry a key with a massive heavy ball attached (literally). You can drop it at the service desk in your way out, but then you have pick it up every time you come back. This is an unnecessary pain. Noise: There is construction going on right now. So at 8am we were woken up to pounding outside our room. While I understand the need for it, it would have been nice to been told ahead of time, been offered ear plugs at check in, been given a room that didn’t sit next to the construction, etc. Minor annoyance, but just be aware. Tips Breakfast- slip the breakfast here- it’s expensive and mediocre. There are places across the street that have delicious coffee and pastries. Overall- I would call this a four star hotel. With perks like beautiful decor in the lobby, great location, and spacious rooms, this is a wonderful place to stay. But it lacks the amazing quality of a five star hotel. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
