Ok hostal, perfect location

Perfect location. Rooms are clean. Nice staff. 1 night became 2 nights at this hostal as we liked Madrid so much. It takes just a couple of minutes walking to Puerta del sol, shops, restaurant and an excellent nightlife. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER 

Basic accommodation in a central location

This room is well-located close to Puerta del Sol, and walking distance from sights and public transportation. It is very basic -- no air conditioning, thin walls, and wi-fi that only worked intermittently. However, it was clean, the beds were comfortable, and there was no distracting street noise. Fine for a short stay

This hostel was fine for our quick overnight in Madrid before heading to the airport. Rooms are clean and simple, and good value for the price. Great location just blocks from the main plazas and restaurants of Madrid. Wifi is basically non-existent (we could't get it to work at all) and there's no air conditioning. Entry into the building leaves a bit to be desired -- you have to walk into a giant empty, dark hallway and lobby and wander until you find the door to the hostel. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER 

Very basic clean hostal at great location

Hostal Principado is a very simple hostal extremely well located, close to Sol, Gran Via and Museum Thyssen-Bornemisza. This is a two star and very cost effective, and my partner and I actually thought that we got more than we expected by the rate we paid. Although the room was very basic and the bathroom very small, both were extremely clean and the shower was very good. Staff was very helpful and pleasant, always available and concerned if we had everything we need. The only issue was that at some points it was very noisy in the room because of the corridor outside, and the proximity of our room to the reception, we could hear the staff talking at times. Some reviews mention the lack of air conditioning, as we visited Principado December 2014 there was no need of that, but I can say that the room was warm. If you only need a cheap no frills place to stay in Madrid, this is worth it. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER 

Helpfull staff, clean room

I stayed at THE PRINCIPADO on Oct 2014, I think I made a good choice. A clean room with small shower but new and water from shower head runs strong, cold / hot. Reception staff very helpfull and also arranged for me the airline boarding pass. If you want to stay only few minutes away from Puerta del sol and other central places in Madrid you should book here, HOSTAL PRINCIPADO. The only one thing that I did not really liked is that traffic wakes you around 6 am. Maybe better to enjoy more time of your holiday. I loved Madrid, but maybe in future children at school will be teached english speaking, so tourist can be more relax if they need to ask something. I found that only few spanish people knows how to speak english even in shops and restaurants. Madrid is clean and I enjoyed my holiday there. regards to the manager & all staff at Principado.
