Hotel Ambos Mundos, Havana

Mar 30th, 2020

We had to move from Hotel Florida, as we were informed that the hotel were carrying out work. We only stayed here one day. Although the move was a little inconvenient, were pleasantly surprised. Hotel Ambos Mundos had a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere. The staff and management were friendly and could not do no more for us. We were told that once we were settled that we could visit the Ernest Hemingway Museum which was a delight. Our bedrooms were situated next to Ernest Hemingway Museum. The rooms were tastefully decorated vibrant green and brown, the chambermaids greeted us with a cheerful "Ola". Bedrooms were comfortable, with crisp cleaning bedding. However, the showering only cold water was working. Apart from that I enjoyed my stay at the hotel and would have liked to have stayed a few more days here. Breakfast was provided on the outdoor roof top of the hotel, which gave visiting guests a view of the city, breakfast selection was good, a great improvement on the first Hotel, Hotel Florida. We had more choice and waiting staff were available to cater us to our needs. I would describe Havana as a musical city. Musicians situated almost everywhere playing music. Love Cuba. DON'T RUIN YOUR HOLIDAY, DON'T BOOK THIS HOTEL!

Feb 21st, 2020

Absolutely terrible, should be closed immediately Dirty rooms, toilet not working, room doors not working, they had to drill it to let us inside the bedroom. They make your life really difficult, they don’t care about the customers. Terribly managed. I honestly think that this hotel should be closed. We arrived there after an 11 hours flight to find a dirty room and a broken toilet ( couldn’t use the bathroom ) the day after they repaired the toilet but our door was blocked ( couldn’t enter the room) had to wait hours before entering and they had to drill it. We went away in another hotel. By the way we paid 170 euros per night!’The days before our arrival we tried to contact the hotel to confirm our arrival time, called about 30 times , they never answered... this should have been a warning sign:( DON’t go there, look for another hotel. Santa Isabel is a good one) TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Havana acomodation at the Ambos Mundos

Jan 14th, 2020

Visiting Havana for the 1st time and stayed at Ambos mundos for 3 nights. First 2 nights no hot water and barely had cold water in the shower. After asking at the reception, we received hot water for our last night there. First day there were no internet cards in the reception. The building is old, renowned in the city and we're nice to have the Hemingway room for visitors, as a museum. But this not mean you don't have to clean the bathroom for example. Classic hotel in an excellent location

Jan 13th, 2020

This was where Hemingway used to stay in Havana before buying his own place, and there are tributes to him all over the hotel. It is styled as a classic old hotel, in furnishings etc. and even with an old elevator. The staff were friendly, and the lobby is a comfortable open area for a beverage. It is undergoing some restoration work at the moment. This was not disruptive, but meant that the hotel was a little quiet. (early Jan 2020) TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Memories og Hemingway!!!

Dec 11th, 2019

A grand old hotel in the heart of Havana, where the great author stayed when visiting, before he and Mary bought their Finca Vigia property 16 K from the city. You can visit the room he stayed in. It is a kind of shrine. There is a model in the room of his fishing yacht Pilar, and other memorabilia. You can't stay in the room, of course. Once you visit here, then take a cab to Finca Vigia, beautifully maintained all these years after the author's death in 1961. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
