Excellent location

Jul 22nd, 2019

They say it's location, location, location, and this hotel definitely has location going for it. The staff is vey friendly and helpful. The room is comfortable, and we liked the daily gift; grapes, a shopping bag, Port wine etc, etc. The bed was comfortable as well. On the downside, the bathroom has a lot to be desired. There is little to no counter space. The shower/tub grout was covered with mildew. The shower/tub had a ledge that the water seemed to follow, all the way around the tub and then running unto the floor. The turn doen service was nice. The breakast had a large variety of choices and the food all seemed to be high quality. The room is serviced early in the morning, unlike many hotels where it takes forever before it's serviced. Would have given it a higher rating had it not been for the bathroom. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Pleasure

Jul 21st, 2019

We had a fantastic stay at Hotel Avenida Palace. The hotel lived up to the expectations from time of arrival. The location is perfect to tour Lisbon and to take the train to Sintra. The hotel staff was kind, knowledgeable and easy to communicate with. We stayed 3 nights and will be back! We highly recommend this hotel. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Make history

What a lovely historic hotel centrally located in Lisbon. It is so clean you could eat off the floor. Very very comfortable accommodations, welcoming and kind staff, the BEST breakfast buffet in all of Europe! You certainly can't go wrong and at a fair price you can experience a luxury with a past. Fantastic Service; Location Can't Be Beat

Jul 17th, 2019

I felt as if they went out of their way to accommodate us, and it wasn't easy. We had two young kids with us (4 and 6), and my mother who was in a wheelchair at the time. When we first pulled up I was a bit surprised because there were not a hoarde of staff in the lobby as there often are in high end hotels, so I thought we might not get great service. But the staff that was there were so competent and so helpful, not to mention so kind to both the kids and my mother. They were really sweet. The hotel itself was a bit quiet, which is great, but when that happens I worry the staff will be annoyed by young kids, but I felt totally the opposite here. They were definitely welcoming and warm with them - the main doorman was always doing little funny things to make them giggle or giving them little fruit taffies. We actually stayed here twice - at the start and end of our trip, in two different rooms (we booked family rooms by phone). Both times, they set up the kids' area in the cutest way, with tiny bathrobes and slippers for them! They left little gifts for the kids each night - they were so excited to get back to the hotel at the end of every day. Breakfast was lovely and the location can NOT be beat. Would definitely stay again! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Affordable luxury

Jul 16th, 2019

My husband and I decided to splurge on our last night of a two week trip through Portugal. We had been staying in apartments and inexpensive, small hotels (which were all wonderful), but decided on our last night in Lisbon to treat ourselves to the historic Hotel Avenida Palace. We were very pleased with our decision. From the doorman greeting us, to the check-in process, to our sumptuous room, we felt pampered in luxury. Some extras were the yummy dark chocolates at turn down, the complementary water, coffee and tea, plus the complementary use of a cell phone. Breakfast was delicious with many choices and good coffee. The hotel is centrally located with easy access to train, metro and bus lines, plus many restaurants and shopping, and would be a great choice as a base for exploring Lisbon TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
