We originally booked a room at Hotel Bahia on the second floor overlooking the Bay. When we arrived we were given a room on the first floor. I did not like the room , so I decided to go back to the office, assuming it was going to be a problem. I was wrong. I cannot say enough about the gentleman Kevin at the front desk. He was very accommodating. He not only changed our room, but gave us a room with a kitchen on the fourth floor overlooking the Bay with a free dinner in the Cafe while we waited for him to make other arrangements. Our experience in the cafe was a pleasant one also. Jonathan, our server had such a cheerful disposition. Can't say enough about him. Breakfast was also a pleasant experience. Rora went out of her way to accommodate us. I must add, the food delicious. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Old but gold.

Jan 25th, 2017

The hotel is pretty old, but it's worth it! We wanted to stay in a Colombian hotel, with colombian breakfast and we got it. This hotel is apparently part of Cartagena's history, and they are proud of it. The staff was really friendly and helpful. Breakfast was included and really good, we had some typical food! Oh, their swimming pool is also pretty good and it was never crowded. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Charming Abode

Warm and welcoming staff with the cool relaxing room makes this a perfect place to unwind after a long journey. Basic toiletries, clean bathroom, strong wifi, and a quiet comfortable room. Located walking distance to many restaurants and grocery stores. Felt safe and secure. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Internet mostly non working

May 21st, 2015

This dated (1958) hotel was clean, staff friendly, and the a/c worked great in hot Cartagena, BUT....IF internet is important to you then find somewhere else. If you can get on wifi, it will repeatedly kick you off to re-log back in. It didn't work in our bedroom, they/we tried numerous bedrooms and it was always the same. It worked most of the time if you stand/sit near the front desk. We had planned to stay there 4 days, we left after 2 because the internet didn't work. Food was fine, pool was pretty, staff was helpful and pleasant. Location was great, it comes down to whether wifi is important to you..... TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Where's Don Johnson at?

Feb 9th, 2015

From the minute I walked in I thought that Don Johnson from miami vice was going to be walking the hallways of my hotel as it was a little antiquated, not like it matters as I only spend my time there to sleep and shower. Loved that the AC could freeze out my room, for those long days in cartagena and afterwards I could go cool off in my room. The pool was really good even though we only went in it once. The walk to the beach isn't bad at all just be prepared to be accosted by everyone trying to sell u everything from a seashell, karate lessons, drugs, beer, seafood, to a house. Not a bad place would def stay there again, and the humidity of the room was pretty crazy. And they beat you over the head for laundry service. Take the bus to old city, not worth paying a taxi when the bus is 10 times cheaper and gets there almost as quick. Never ate there but read reviews that the food sucked so I can't comment on it, I will say that the pizza place next door wasn't bad at all. That's all i got for now. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
