Anniversary Trip

Jul 4th, 2019

Over a year ago my wife mentioned to me she would like to spend our 27th anniversary on June 27th in Paris. Our stay at Sofitel Baltimore was outstanding. Hotel as nice as you can get. Staff amazing. The morning breakfast superb. But what made this stay truly remarkable was our concierge Christopher. I asked him for a location to buy some wine for our room, and he walked me three blocks to a wine shop as he shared with me his recommendations. We were on our way to sit with the masses to watch Eiffel Tower sparkle at 11:00, and he showed us a private location on the river that was spectacular. Finally, USA women’s soccer was playing France in the quarter finals and he pulled up two chairs for us in the front row. Thank you for making our trip to Paris unforgettable. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Decent but not wow

Jun 26th, 2019

The hotel Sofitel Baltimore was a perfectly decent hotel; it just didn’t wow us. We couldn’t help but compare it to the Melia Vendome, where we first stayed in Paris. True, the Sofitel Baltimore is just a 5 minute walk to the Eiffel Tower but the Melia Vendome was right next to the Louvre and the Tuileries gardens and was, for us, in a better-positioned neighborhood. The Sofitel Baltimore, while still perfectly comfortable, was also less impressive, less grand. And the charm wasn’t there. The décor was more modern, less Old World Paris. The rooms (at least ours) was on the small size and we found it difficult to navigate without bumping in to furniture or each other. Additionally, the hotel was stiflingly hot on the top floor (where our room was) with no apparent way to get any cooling or ventilation. We heard a number of complaints about the heat from other guests on our floor as well. In short, this hotel was perfectly acceptable; we just probably wouldn't choose to go back. To us, it seemed like an upscale business hotel that catered to companies who needed to put up their employees for the night. It was just meh. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Jun 10th, 2019

We arrived at the hotel at check in time of 2pm and our room was not ready until 3pm we waited an hour and in that time we were offered coffee only later to be charged 12euros we think it should have been complimentary We loved our room but had to ring to find out where our luggage was another hour wasted The staff were lovely but our in room tea coffee was not replenished we had to ask for milk Breakfast food was excellent and the service alright All in all a good hotel in tourist area but over rated over priced would not stay there again TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
