Hotel Baluartes

Named after the historic bastions (baluartes) that surround the walled city of Campeche, the Baluartes Hotel offers guests a seaside retreat in a colonial enclave. Its bright guest rooms and suites feature flat-screen TVs, complimentary Wi-Fi access and either vistas of the historic city center or ocean views from expansive balconies. Guests say that the prices are reasonable at the in-house restaurant, La Almena, but the jury's still out on the cuisine. If it's not to your liking, however, you can head to one of the many eateries located in downtown Campeche. The Baluartes Hotel also allows you to take advantage of the Yucatán sun with its large pool and its proximity to the beach. However, some guests do note that the hotel could benefit from a facelift after experiencing musty furniture and frayed linens.
